Spring is the perfect time to clean up old apps, forgotten accounts, and files you haven’t touched in years. Why does it matter? Because clutter online can create opportunities for scammers. Dormant accounts, outdated apps, and exposed data can all increase your risk. As Malwarebytes VP of Product Michael Sherwood puts it: “Clutter is fuel for scammers. Old accounts, exposed data and forgotten apps give them more ways in.” Check out his spring cleaning tech tips in The Associated Press. https://lnkd.in/gbHZWUyR

Scams are becoming industrialized. And the need for protection that actually works for everyday people has never been bigger. Over the last three years, Malwarebytes has increased its annual ARR growth rate by more than 3x while continuing to expand how it protects consumers. Chung brings the kind of operational and financial leadership that helps companies scale with discipline, speed, and long-term focus. Plus, he’s a Star Wars fan. What can we say? We’re partial.

  • Not that long ago in a galaxy really, really close by... A crew of rebels, bounty hunters, and builders spent the day together in the outer rim piecing together Boba Fett’s Slave 1 and the Millennium Falcon as if the fate of the galaxy depends on it. These ships will make a fine addition to our collection. ✨

A few weeks ago, I sat down with Fareedah Shaheed for an Instagram Live on parents, kids, and AI. One topic she pushed me on has stuck with me since. With three kids between the ages 6-11, my biggest concern right now isn't a specific app or platform. It's that AI-generated content is hard even for adults to spot. The visual cues we used to look for are gone. The old playbook of "block the bad stuff" doesn't scale to a world where the bad stuff looks identical to the real thing. So the job has shifted. It's less about parental controls and more about raising discerning people, helping your kids understand the world they’re growing up in and to know how to question what they see. A few things we got into: - The single most important move every parent should make to protect their kids' credit (it's free, it's fast, and most people skip it) - Why ad-blocking matters more than most parents realize — and the easiest way to do it on every device - How to talk to your kids about AI content without making it feel like surveillance - The visibility gap most parents miss: vetting an app isn't the same as vetting what ships inside it - Fareedah and I also traded specific apps and tools that have actually made a difference at home — including a few that are free (shout out to Malwarebytes Browser Guard and Malwarebytes Scam Guard) The honest takeaway I kept coming back to: even when this is your day job, it can still feel overwhelming. Yet, there is always something, one small step you take today that can make a big difference. Full conversation here: https://lnkd.in/gvtVe-ck Thanks to Fareedah Shaheed and the #Malwarebytes team for working hard to keep kids safe online. #DigitalParenting #OnlineSafety

  • Think deleting a file means it’s gone for good? Not quite. Hitting “delete” just removes the file's reference in the file system. Your data can still be recovered with the right tools. Malwarebytes File Shredder inside the Malwarebytes app changes the game by securely overwriting data so it’s truly unrecoverable, giving Windows users greater control over their sensitive data. Because when it comes to sensitive files, “deleted” should actually mean deleted.
