Think you need a computer science degree to work at a tech company? Maybe you're in the trades right now, wondering whether that experience counts. It does. The people running Meta's Cheyenne data center came from electrical work, commissioning, food manufacturing, and industrial controls. Here's how they got here. 👇 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? Most of this team counted themselves out before they applied. The technical foundation built in trades and industrial settings — PLCs, automation, troubleshooting complex systems under pressure — maps directly onto data center work. "I always thought working at a tech company was outside of my reach. But the controls experience I built at Smucker's translates directly. PLCs, automation, troubleshooting complex systems — that's exactly what a data center needs. You don't have to be a software engineer to work at Meta." — Rafael, Critical Facility Engineer (former controls tech, food manufacturing) 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲? Growth isn't gated by title or tenure. Engineers here are building software tools, automating workflows, leading AI adoption, and stepping into leadership, often within their first year. "Transitioning into the data center industry with Meta has given my career an incredible new trajectory and opened up continuous professional development." — Shaun, Electrical Subject Matter Expert (former electrical commissioning agent) 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱? Motivating. The culture runs on peer-led training, weekly skill-building, and a genuine expectation that everyone keeps getting better. "Our whole team is leveling up together — writing procedures, driving process improvements, stepping up to lead training. My manager gave me room to sprint. That kind of trust isn't common in this industry." — Gabe, Critical Facility Engineer Look at where this team started and where they are now: building tools, leading AI adoption, stepping into leadership. The common thread was never a degree. It was technical fundamentals, work ethic, and a willingness to keep learning. Meta hires for what you can do and invests in who you can become. If you've got the skills and the drive, there's a place for you here. "A career is not like a single line. You can change, you can shift shape and form, but you will always be you." – Rubi, Clinical Operations Lead When Rubi told people she was leaving her hospital job for research, most of them said she was headed in the wrong direction. Walking away from years of medical training isn't easy, especially in a field where most assume the hospital is the only option. But one friend encouraged her to try it anyway. Today it’s her full-time job at Meta, where she’s a clinical operations lead on our Health Technologies team, working alongside scientists and engineers. Growing up on the border between Mexico and the United States meant living between cultures and languages. That unique experience taught her to adapt quickly, solve problems creatively, and build connections across diverse backgrounds. Rubi credits it for how she works: caring for the people around her, creativity, and resilience. #LatinX #LifeatMeta

We’re excited to introduce the Muse Wonder series with Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full, our most capable models yet. Both are frontier models, built to deliver state-of-the-art performance for personal and professional agentic tasks. Two things make Muse Wonder suited for long-running, multi-step work an agent faces every day:  -> Active Memory carries your context across conversations and surfaces it when it's relevant. -> Active Focus keeps the models working toward your goal when a task gets challenging, trying alternative approaches, working through blockers, and following through to completion. A personal agent that acts on your behalf demands discretion with private information and resistance to misuse. Muse Wonder is our most aligned model to date, with our strongest safeguards yet against CBRN and cyber misuse, while preserving frontier cyber capabilities for defensive use. Muse Wonder is available today via the Meta Model API and Muse Code. Muse Wonder Full is available today for Muse Code subscribers. Muse Wonder will also soon power experiences in our personal agent product, Muse, rolling out first to subscribers. Learn more in our research blog: https://lnkd.in/eSCh-Q86

When you hear "data center," you probably picture rows of servers in a big building. Maybe you're working in one right now. But at Meta, they're built differently — custom infrastructure, real investment in the people who run it, and a direct line between your work and products that billions rely on. We asked our Cheyenne team what sets it apart. 👇 What surprised you most about working at a Meta data center compared to your previous experience?  For engineers coming from other hyperscalers and industrial environments, the biggest surprise isn't the technology — it's how quickly Meta trusts you to do the work. 🗣️  "From day one, you have access to all of Meta's tools. No earning your way to basic access. Most places withhold things until they decide they 'trust you enough' — here, you're fully equipped from the start." — Rafael, Critical Facility Engineer · former controls technician in  food manufacturing How much ownership do you actually have over your work? Data center operations here is treated as core engineering, not a support function. Our team build tools, automate workflows, and chooses the problems worth solving. 🗣️  "At Meta, you really have the freedom to 'choose your own adventure.' You're empowered to pursue projects you're genuinely passionate about and focus on what drives the greatest impact." — Shaun, Electrical Subject Matter Expert · Cheyenne native, returned home from Oregon What would you say to someone weighing Meta against another data center employer? World-class technology, a team that functions like one, and the autonomy to do your best work all from the comfort of your hometown. 🗣️  "If you've got a strong work ethic, care about doing things right, and want a team that actually feels like one — come talk to us. I came from another hyperscaler, and I can tell you: it's not the same everywhere." — Gabe, Critical Facility Engineer So, what makes Meta different? Ask enough people and the same picture emerges: trust on day one, ownership over real work, and a team that operates like one. That's the difference our Cheyenne team feels every day, and it's why the ones who came from other hyperscalers and industries say the same thing: it's not the same everywhere. Today, we are launching Muse for Small Business. Small business owners are short on hours, not ideas. Muse for Small Business handles the work that grows and runs your business—including the back-office tasks that consume your day—so entrepreneurs can focus on what they actually started their business to do. A great example is Henry Bennett of Bennett Orchards, a 6th generation farmer in Frankford, Delaware who grows peaches, blueberries, and nectarines. Hear from him how Muse for Small Business is changing his life and growing his business. Small businesses have grown on our platforms for 20 years, and now they have access to tools that will help them manage their day, grow faster, and serve more people. Congrats to Alexandr Wang, Nat Friedman, Vishal Shah, and the entire team.
