What an unforgettable Homecoming weekend for MSU Health Care! On Friday, Oct. 10, we proudly joined the MSU Homecoming Parade as participants and provided first-aid tent coverage to keep everyone safe. Saturday, Oct. 11, was packed with Spartan spirit! We hosted a grab-and-go breakfast at the MSU Medical Office Building with a shuttle and tickets for our amazing providers and staff, and their families and friends. As always, our incredible Sports Medicine team was on the field providing top-notch care for the team. A special highlight of the weekend: Henry Ford Health + Michigan State University Health Sciences was honored during the Homecoming football game with special on-field recognition celebrating five years of partnership. Senior leaders from both organizations — including those guiding this landmark collaboration — were presented with the official game helmet to commemorate the milestone. Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this weekend. Go Green! View the full album here: https://lnkd.in/gdGuefGa

New research by our own Sports Medicine Primary Care Doctor Nathan Fitton shows that athletes who specialize in one sport are at greater risk for injury. There is a simple solution — take a cross training "vacation". Primary Care Sports Medicine//Associate Professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine//Associate Chief Medical Information Officer MSU Health Care Parents, coaches and trainers: Specializing in a single sport may put young athletes at greater risk for injuries and even surgeries, according to our research. Taking a 3-month "cross-training break" can significantly improve athlete’s health, reduce injuries, and enhance performance. https://lnkd.in/gq58-B74
