About us
Salvo Health enables providers treating chronic GI and metabolic liver conditions to enable their practices and hospital departments to move from episodic appointments to offering continuous "wraparound care." Salvo lets providers including GI private practices, primary care population health ACOs, and health systems to deliver interdisciplinary follow-on care, while keeping patients under their doctor's supervision. In a coordinated approach, doctors can add a team dedicated to follow-on, personalized care plans for each patient, including registered dietitians, gut health specialized nurses, and behavioral health support. This improves patient outcomes and access, while also generating a new service line of revenue for providers, leveraging remote patient monitoring (RPM) covered by insurance, and building a bridge towards Value Based Care bundled services.

Two big milestones to share today. First is that we have reached 700 GI Physicians whose provider groups have signed on to deploy Salvo Health care for their brick & mortar clinics. That represents 14% of all independent GI providers in the US, and just keeps growing. Active patients have grown 800% since last Autumn. Second, to fund deployment with these signed GI provider groups across nine new states, we announced today a $4M Seed Prime round for scale-up of our clinical staff including dietitians, behavioral health specialists, and licensed nurses, as well as continued investment in Sano, Salvo’s proprietary technology stack that orchestrates personalized care plans for each patient. I am grateful to new investor Diana Murakhovskaya from The Artemis Fund and all the support from existing investors Emily Melton, Rachel Parlier, Heather Hartnett, Josh Cohen, Katie Reiner Peykar, Victoria Treyger, Jason Bird and others. I feel lucky to be on this journey since month one with our founding team: Erin Hendriks MD, FAAFP, DipABLM our Chief Medical Officer (merely quadruple Board-certified!) and Marin Rothenberg our COO (who scaled up operations from early days to Optum-size at AbleTo). And fortunate to have industry veterans and whizzes like Amanda Sussex leading our partnerships and Luke Rohde our engineering. I benefit from their wisdom every single day. I still feel a relative newbie to the healthcare industry (even after over two decades building tech companies, healthcare still has SO many quirks). Onward.

Our Salvo Health team had the privilege of presenting our research at #DDW2025, the premier annual GI conference globally, focusing on IBS outcomes. Gratitude to Sheena Batura, MS, RDN, CSOWM, LD, and Alyssa Guberman for their exceptional contributions alongside our Clinical Advisory Board, including co-authors Naresh Gunaratnam, Partha Nandi MD FACP, and Professor Laura Reigada. IBS, a chronic condition affecting 11-15% of the population, poses challenges for clinicians due to its complexity and time-intensive nature. Through a collaborative approach blending traditional community GI practices with Salvo wraparound care involving dietitians, therapists, and nurses, we observed remarkable results. Within a span of just 60 days, 57% of IBS patients reported significant enhancements in symptoms and quality of life. This innovative #HybridCare model, combining in-person diagnostics with telehealth follow-up and personalized support, represents our vision for the future of healthcare.

A message from our CEO regarding today's CMS decision re GLP-1 medications for obesity programs.
This decision today by the new administration to NOT cover GLP-1s for weight loss under Medicare is a big deal. It certainly gives me mixed feelings, as these medications can be highly effective. That said, what we do at Salvo Health becomes even more essential. Patients living with obesity who pay out of pocket for drugs like Tirzepetide do lose 15-22% of weight, but mostly stay on the drugs LESS than 12 months, and most regain 75% or more of the lost weight after stopping GLP1s, studies show. The way to make it a good investment long term is to do COMPREHENSIVE weight loss right, with dietary and behavioral changes to center dense protein, resistance training to avoid loss of lean muscle mass and sarcopenia, and daily support from clinical staff to manage GI side effects. Salvo is already helping Providers launch comprehensive medical weight loss programs the RIGHT way.
