Europe’s cities are facing a growing challenge at the intersection of climate change and demographic change. Heatwaves are becoming more frequent, while an ageing population means more people are exposed to heat-related risks. Protecting vulnerable communities will require more than emergency response — it calls for long-term planning, smarter use of data and urban environments designed with resilience in mind. Across Europe, cities are already taking action through heat mapping, vulnerability assessments and targeted adaptation measures that help identify where interventions can make the biggest difference. At Sweco, we support cities and municipalities in understanding local conditions and translating insights into practical solutions that strengthen resilience and improve quality of life.
Tarkoituksemme on niityttää osa uuden suklaatehtaan tontista, emmekä halua lupiinin valtaavan tontilla alaa. Usein torjuntatöitä on jatkettava vuosien ajan. Me Fazerilla toivomme voivamme tehdä lupiinien torjuntatalkoista jokavuotisen perinteen.

#beSweco #swecoarchitects #Architectuur #HealthcareDesign #HealingEnvironment #Zorgarchitectuur #Masterplanning https://lnkd.in/eGkfq4Ef

💡Rok temu informowaliśmy o projekcie badawczym dotyczącym potencjału usuwania dwutlenku węgla w Finlandii, Niemczech i Polsce. Water is becoming more complex to manage — sometimes there’s too much, too little or it’s too polluted. Sweco’s new insight report highlights Europe’s growing water challenges and outlines six key actions to secure sustainable and resilient water systems. Water treatment is becoming increasingly important. For wastewater treatment in Europe, Sweco estimates that removing micropollutants such as pharmaceuticals and PFAS would increase average water costs by around 6 per cent. This reflects a broader systemic challenge, where Europe’s water systems are under growing pressure — expected to meet increasing demands while facing rising pollution, climate change and stricter regulations. There is a widening gap between the real cost of water and what is currently reflected in water tariffs and investment decisions. 👉 Read more in the report: Too much, too little, too polluted — Taking on Europe’s water challenges https://lnkd.in/dqfHEG3w #UrbanInsight #WaterResilience #SustainableWater #SwecoGroup
