  • Universities have historically been integral to democracy. What can they do to reclaim this critical role? In What Universities Owe Democracy, Ronald J. Daniels, the president of The Johns Hopkins University, argues that—at a moment when liberal democracy is endangered and more countries are heading toward autocracy than at any time in generations—it is critical for today's colleges and universities to reestablish their place in democracy. • Today we spotlight The Philosophy Documentation Center for their participation in our S2O program with their journal Levinas Studies and for serving scholars on a non-profit basis since 1966. Over the course of that time, they've earned a reputation for excellence with the publication of journals, book series, conference proceedings, and reference materials in philosophy and related fields. In addition to their publishing program they provide support for projects such as the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, PhilPapers, and TeachPhilosophy101 web site. Their online resources include philosophy-related publications in many languages, as well as all publications of the World Congress of Philosophy. • In Migraine, award-winning historian Katherine Foxhall reveals the ideas and methods that ordinary people and medical professionals have used to describe, explain, and treat migraine since the Middle Ages. Throughout the book, Foxhall persuasively argues that our current knowledge of migraine's neurobiology is founded on a centuries-long social, cultural, and medical history. Deeply researched and beautifully written, this fascinating and accessible study of one of our most common, disabling—and yet often dismissed—disorders will appeal to physicians, historians, scholars in medical humanities, and people living with migraine alike.
