Last week I spoke at Rocky Mountain Ruby in Boulder! At a conference full of AI talks, mine was about the part of the job that isn't code: focus, stress, accepting feedback, and finding time for what matters. Optimize Your Mindset (Without Overclocking) has been a fun one to give this year.
It was my second small regional Ruby conference this year, after Blue Ridge Ruby, and I want more Rubyists to go to these. With a single track, everyone sees the same talks, so the hallway conversations pick up right where the last
speaker left off. You can actually meet most of the people in the room. And the venue was a former church in downtown Boulder, with the Flatirons right there!
If you've only been to the big conferences, or haven't been to one yet, find the regional conference closest to you. RubyEvents (rubyevents.org) keeps a list.
Thank you to Spike Ilacqua and Bekki Freeman for putting it together and having me. I wrote up the whole two days, from building an AI agent in about 400 lines of Ruby to human computers and the moon landing. Link in the comments.
