With its gallium nitride-powered array, our new PhantomStrike radar is bringing powerful sensing to more aircraft. The radar puts the power of active electronically scanned array in a compact package for superior situational awareness. This new form factor is much smaller than before, the radar can scale down to about the size of a gaming computer, and it weighs less than 130 pounds. PhantomStrike is also designed to be platform-agnostic meaning the basic building blocks are there to accommodate just about any configuration. PhantomStrike is a fully air-cooled, high efficiency Gallium Nitride, fire-control radar designed to provide long-range threat detection, tracking and targeting. The next-generation system will provide high-altitude, real-time, high-resolution imaging with wide-area search and tracking for land and maritime surveillance, operating day or night in any weather condition. Faster, farther and ready for the future: Built with feedback straight from soldiers, Raytheon’s replacement for the Stinger missile will fight drones and deliver new capabilities. “The legacy Stinger is still the best portable air defense system in the world,” said Brenda Ortiz, Raytheon’s vice president for short-and medium-range ground-based air defense, “but what we can do with NGSRI is really going to take it to the next level.” In less than two years, Raytheon designed a prototype, incorporated soldier feedback and successfully completed 10 subsystem demonstrations.
