A hike-turned-emergency turned into an incredible save thanks to the extraordinary work of the Tompkins County first responders in New York. By a stroke of luck, the hiker was able to reach 911 in the notorious cellular dead zone of Connecticut Hill. Struggling with a medical emergency, the hiker couldn’t describe their location. The telecommunicators on duty had to find the hiker fast, in miles of rugged forest with only fragments of information. RapidSOS and what3words data pinpointed the caller to a precise three-meter square in the forest, and the total response time from call to location was less than 15 minutes. Every second counts in emergency response, but many agencies are still responding blind to critical crash data. Responders arrive at accident scenes without knowing how many people are in the vehicle, whether they're wearing seatbelts, the crash speed, or if occupants are still in their seats. This information exists at the moment of impact. The technology to transmit it immediately to first responders exists too. Eric Troy, VP of eDispatches, at RapidSOS points out a fundamental gap: Emergency teams are still racing against time without these crucial details that could help them prepare — before they arrive on-scene. Time saved translates to lives saved. Tune into the full discussion with Eric, Amy M., and Michael Armitage: https://lnkd.in/gE2v6-JB

A whispered plea for help. Quick thinking. A life saved. Teamwork and technology helped Twinsburg Police Department dispatcher Chris Fried and his partner Patty respond to what seemed like an open line that wasn't just a pocket dial, but a woman who had suffered a medical emergency that left her unresponsive and unable to speak. The RapidSOS platform helped Fried pinpoint the woman's exact location, and the Emergency Health Profile linked to the caller's phone number helped first responders locate her car in a grocery store parking lot. Within minutes, she was transported to the hospital — alive. Learn how the Twinsburg team helped save a life with data and instinct: https://lnkd.in/guyqUQQc

Butler County, PA's 911 center is handling more calls than ever. More incidents. More complexity. More pressure on dispatchers. Their solution? AI that augments, not replaces. Robert McLafferty, Butler County's 911 coordinator, explains how their team is exploring how AI-powered tools can give telecommunicators the support they need — without taking away the human touch — with features like live translations and real-time transcription. He also shared how RapidSOS links emergency data from callers' devices directly to call centers, delivering critical context before responders even leave the station. 📈 A 1,000% spike in calls. Eight hours without 911. When a failed underground cable repair knocked out Nebraska’s 911 service, emergencies didn’t stop coming in.
