Nourishing people and the planet.

About us

Whole Foods was founded in 1980 on the belief that where food comes from, and how it’s grown, matters. It meant creating quality standards, working with suppliers who achieve them, and sharing that information with our customers. And it radically changed the way people understood and shopped for food. The result has been the highest quality natural and organic products, an unmatched experience in more than 500+ stores, with a passionate team of over 90,000 team members, 5 percent of our total net profits given back to our communities each year, and millions of customers who put their trust in us every day.

  • What will you be eating in 2027? We have some predictions. 🔮 Today, we're excited to unveil the Whole Foods Market 2027 Trends Report — our annual forecast of the flavors, ingredients, and movements set to reshape grocery aisles, restaurant menus, and home kitchens in the year ahead. This year's predictions reflect a real shift in how people are eating: a deeper curiosity about where food comes from, a willingness to embrace bold and unexpected flavors, and a meaningful return to simpler, whole-food ingredients. Here's a taste of what's ahead for 2027: 🌍 Terroir takes center stage — Consumers are seeking a "taste of place," paying closer attention to product origin and the story behind what's on their plate. 🧴 Food as skincare — The connection between what we eat and how we look is driving a new wave of beauty-from-within ingredients. 🫒 Bitter is better — From amaro-inspired beverages to bitter greens, bold and complex flavor profiles are having a moment. These trends are identified each year by our Trends Council — a collective of Whole Foods Market foragers, buyers, and culinary experts who spend the year in the field, from farmers' markets to trade shows to neighborhood restaurants, tracking what's new and next. Read the full report, including all eight trends and product lists, here: https://lnkd.in/grE56fsz

We believe food has the power to change lives — and sometimes that starts in a school garden. 🌱 During our recent London Field Day, our team members volunteered alongside School Food Matters at a local primary school, where we got our hands dirty helping prepare the school garden for the year ahead. School Food Matters collaborates with the Whole Foods Market Foundation to deliver food-growing sessions, garden-based learning and nutrition education across London schools, all rooted in one belief: every child deserves nutritious, delicious food at school, and the food education to carry that forward for life. It’s one of many ways the Whole Foods Market Foundation is making a difference. Established in 2005 and united under one banner in 2024, the Foundation focuses on three areas: expanding financial inclusion, improving children's nutrition and broadening healthy food access. That work spans 83 countries, with work ranging from microloans for smallholder farmers and financial literacy training to garden grants, bee grants, salad bar programs and community-led food access initiatives right here at home. Whole Foods Market covers the Foundation’s operating costs, so every dollar donated goes directly to the mission. Thank you to Whole Foods Market team member Jorge Paragas for capturing and editing this meaningful video. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/eP5KB9mh.

  • Today is #NationalFarmersDay, and we're celebrating the people who feed us all. 🌱 Behind every meal is a farmer. Yet around the world, 2.6 billion people still lack access to fresh, nutritious food — and many of the farmers growing that food struggle to feed their own families. Whole Foods Market Foundation is working to change that. Meet a few of the farmers in our network who are proving what's possible when determination meets the right support: Rosa Chongo in Ecuador transformed her depleting farmland through regenerative practices with ALIADOS, growing her harvest and her income — while protecting the forest and local water sources. Claudine Manirankunda in Burundi went from zero farming knowledge to harvesting 300 kg of beans on land that once yielded just 50 — thanks to training from One Acre Fund. Rise Up Community Farm in Wilmington, NC grows 7,000 lbs of produce a year on a single acre, donates half to local food pantries, and launched a free apprenticeship program teaching regenerative farming to community members. Read the full stories of Rosa, Claudine and Rise Up here: https://lnkd.in/geHbKYcv

  • Happy #NationalCoffeeDay ☕🌱 Today, we invite you to slow down and let your next sip transport you to the hillside where it all began. Your morning cup of coffee traveled a long way to reach you. It was nurtured by farmers who've dedicated their lives to the craft before being hand-picked on a mountainside and carried down unpaved roads. At Whole Foods Market, we believe that journey deserves to be honored, not just consumed. That's why we've invested in single origin coffees and regenerative organic practices that enrich the soil, strengthen farming communities and put more back into the land than we take. Because when farmers thrive, the coffee is better, and so is the world it comes from. Every sip counts. Check out the video to meet the people behind your cup.

  • "What you do matters. Days like today show us that and also reconnect us with our mission and purpose" — Allen Culp, Senior Vice President of Operations, North Atlantic & International Our Field Days are a chance for Whole Foods Market team members to get out of the store and into the field, connecting with the suppliers and communities behind the products on our shelves. On our recent Field Day in London, 26 team members joined Allen Culp for a day that started at St. John's Upper Holloway Primary School, where the group worked with Whole Foods Market Foundation partner School Food Matters to garden, plant vegetables and transform an unused area into a sensory wildflower meadow for students. The school serves 260 children in a community where half qualify for free school meals, and the pea shoots planted that morning were set to appear in student lunches just weeks later. The afternoon took the team to Gymkhana, a two-Michelin-star Indian restaurant whose line of simmer sauces, marinades and chutneys is available in stores across our company. Team members heard how a UK brand grew from one shelf in Kensington to over 500 Whole Foods Market doors across the US — a reminder that the work our teams do every day helps bring incredible products to life.
