What does a successful sponsorship look like after nearly 30 years? Heather Nobes, VP, Marketing and Sponsorships at Visa Canada, spoke with MediainCanada about the next chapter of Visa’s longstanding partnership with the Toronto International Film Festival and how we’re continuing to evolve our presence at one of Canada’s defining cultural moments. Heather shared how Visa is thinking about the partnership beyond the Festival footprint, from creating meaningful experiences for fans to supporting the local businesses and communities that help bring TIFF to life. She also discussed how we measure the impact of the partnership across sponsorship awareness, brand impact and business outcomes. Visa data from TIFF 2025 found that overall spending in the TIFF Zone grew 10% year-over-year, with spending at local small businesses also increasing approximately 10%. As Visa and TIFF look ahead to the next chapter of our partnership, we’re excited to continue creating value for audiences, our partners and the Canadian economy. 🎬 Bringing communities closer to the stories that inspire us. Last week at #TIFF26, Visa Sharing the Screen brought together director Rebeca Huntt and soccer icon Megan Rapinoe for a special Creator Talk centered on RAPINOE, Huntt’s intimate documentary portrait of the former pro-athlete. Following opening remarks from Chi Nguyen, Member of Parliament for Spadina-Harbourfront, the conversation explored the themes at the heart of the film, from defying convention, advocacy, and social justice to pay equity, while creating an opportunity for attendees to connect and exchange perspectives. As a proud partner of Toronto International Film Festival, Visa is honoured to help create experiences that bring communities closer to the storytellers and stories shaping culture.

The Toronto International Film Festival effect goes far beyond the red carpet. 🎬 When the world turns its attention to Toronto, local businesses feel the impact too. During TIFF last year, Visa data showed spending around Festival Street increased 10%, with independent businesses seeing an even greater boost. It’s what we call a “pop-up economy:” the surge in activity that happens when major cultural and sporting moments bring more visitors, attention and spending into a city. In our latest article with the Toronto Star, Heather Nobes, Vice President of Marketing at Visa Canada, explores how small businesses can make the most of these major moments and why, when culture moves, commerce follows. #TIFF2026 Read more here: https://vi.sa/4d8Hv7U

Access to capital remains one of the biggest challenges for fast-growing payment companies. Today, Visa is sharing how trusted payment data and onchain infrastructure can work together to help support working-capital financing for stablecoin-linked card programs. An early example is our work with Credit Coop, which combines authorized Visa settlement data with onchain infrastructure to help automate settlement financing and provide greater transparency into financing activity. Together, we're exploring how payment networks and blockchain technology can support new forms of liquidity for digital-native businesses. This work builds on Visa's broader stablecoin strategy, including stablecoin settlement, stablecoin-linked card programs, and the Visa Stablecoin Platform. Learn more: https://vi.sa/3ULsPoY
