Michael Mack - CISSP reposted thisMichael Mack - CISSP reposted thisCleveland-Cliffs announced today that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has established a framework for Cliffs to finalize negotiations and implementation plans for its Middletown Works investment, rescoping the previously awarded $500 million DOE grant. The optimization project represents a total investment of $1 billion in Middletown Works, with funding shared equally by Cleveland-Cliffs and the DOE. Middletown Works is Cleveland-Cliffs’ flagship plant to produce automotive-grade steels, particularly suited to exposed parts of cars, trucks and SUVs. The Middletown Works investment includes state-of-the-art upgrades to its blast furnace, advanced material handling infrastructure, and artificial intelligence-enabled process control technologies. This will improve overall energy efficiency, reduce reliance on externally supplied electricity, and lower operating costs. Some highlights; - Social engineering and #phishing was conducted via #Microsoft #Teams - The threat actor deployed #SNOWBELT, a malicious #Chromium browser extension (not distributed through the Chrome Web Store) - The threat actor leveraged #FTK Imager (a #DFIR forensic tool) to mount the local storage drive and steal the Active Directory database file (NTDS.dit) The graphic below depicts the UNC6692 campaign activities and TTPs, mapped to the Mandiant Attack Lifecycle. Michael Mack - CISSP liked thisMichael Mack - CISSP liked thisAs I wrap up my internship with Cleveland-Cliffs, I want to take a moment to reflect on what an incredible experience this summer has been! Over the past 11 weeks, I had the opportunity to work as a Credit Intern at Cleveland-Cliffs’ Burns Harbor location. Throughout the summer, I gained hands-on experience in credit analysis, collections, and customer account management, developing a deeper understanding of how credit supports the financial operations of a large company. One of the highlights of my internship was identifying and recovering substantial unearned discounts through account analysis and direct customer resolution. I also had the opportunity to analyze financial statements, assess customer credit risk, manage past due balances, and evaluate payment histories and credit references to support credit decisions. A special thank you to Alicia Perez Johnson and the entire Cleveland-Cliffs Credit team for their guidance, support, and willingness to teach me throughout the summer. I am extremely grateful for everything I learned, the relationships I built, and the opportunity to contribute to the team. As I head back to Miami University for my senior year, I’m looking forward to building on this experience and everything I learned throughout the summer.

Many people believe the perfect job is out there waiting for them, and that if they search long enough, they will find work that feels meaningful. It does not work that way. The role I hold today did not exist when I started building my career. It is a hybrid of intelligence operations, content strategy, pipeline management, and executive support. You will not find it on any job board or in any degree program. I built it by taking on challenges others avoided, shaping the work around what I am actually good at, and refusing to stay inside a box someone else drew. Purpose is not a destination you reach. It is a direction you choose, and you reinforce it every time you make a decision that aligns your time with your values. If you are unhappy in your current position, do not ask "What is my dream job?" Ask "What part of my day do I actually enjoy, and what would happen if I doubled down on that?" Most people are one honest conversation and two strategic pivots away from work that energizes them instead of draining them. The conversation is the hard part. The pivots are just logistics.
