Shalane Katugampola reposted thisCome join my team! Work with some of the most talented AI researchers on building the future of filmmaking, photography and design. It’s challenging, it’s fast-paced, it’s constantly evolving - but boy, is it fun 🙂 Links in the comments.Shalane Katugampola reposted thisProduct hiring at Adobe is at full speed right now and I have two roles I'm working on with Saigin Govender that I'm really excited about! Both Directors, both sitting in our Research org, and both focused on the AI models powering the future of creative work. 🖼️ Director of PM, GenAI Imaging Models — This person will own the roadmap for imaging AI across nearly every Adobe surface. Imaging is broader than it sounds — it's photos, vectors, and design assets. A big part of the role is setting our build vs. partner strategy for imaging models, auditing a large portfolio of active research projects, cutting duplication, and redirecting investment toward clear user impact. Strong strategic judgment and a genuine passion for creator workflows are a must. 📽️ Director of PM, GenAI Video Models — Same level of ownership, but focused on video and audio AI and how those capabilities ship into products like Premiere Pro and Frame.io. This person will also represent Adobe externally with enterprise customers at the VP and C-suite level, so comfort in high-stakes conversations matters here too. Video is the priority background, but experience with audio AI is a plus. For both roles, we're looking for someone who's technically credible with researchers and engineers, has real conviction about how creative professionals work, and has a strong ability to influence. These are player-coach roles: hands-on, high autonomy, and high impact. Previous people management experience is required. Feel free to apply directly or tag someone who might be a fit! Dropping the links for both roles in the comments below 👇🏻 #productmanagement #hiring #genAI

Shalane Katugampola shared thisAn insightful article written by my talented husband Saigin Govender about the often-overlooked cost dynamics of AI.Shalane Katugampola shared thisAI Journal 1: The Overlooked Cost Dynamics of AI I hesitated creating this journal series. I mean, who needs another LinkedIn hot take on the future of AI? That said, there are only a handful of tier one AI Research groups out there (OpenAI, Google’s DeepMind, Meta’s FAIR, etc), and I was lucky enough to have led the Product org for one of them (FAIR). Between this experience, my AI advisory work, my time at Amazon launching the original Alexa, and my history tinkering with AI models dating back to 2004 (before it was all the jazz), I hope I can bring a unique perspective to the AI conversation grounded in real world AI experience. #AI #compute #costs #generativeAI #LLMsAI Journal #1: The Overlooked Cost Dynamics of AIAI Journal #1: The Overlooked Cost Dynamics of AISaigin Govender

Shalane Katugampola liked thisThis was a powerful room to be in and an incredible group of people to collaborate with. The future is not inevitable. And yet we often talk about the future of work as though it is something that will simply happen to us. It isn’t. The future of work is really the future of our livelihoods. How we earn, contribute, create, care, lead, and live. And many of the decisions shaping that future are being made right now, in boardrooms and institutions across the country and around the world. Without our presence and inclusion, how will we have a say in the decisions that affect us? That's what made the Women + Future of Work Symposium so powerful. Rather than asking people to react to someone else's vision of the future, we created a process for 130+ people across sectors to surface the tensions, questions, and possibilities they believed should be meaningfully considered. Because while foresight is about anticipating what might happen, it’s also about expanding our sense of what else is possible, and developing the agency and capacity to build it. I'm increasingly interested in the intersection of foresight, strategy, and collective intelligence: how we create containers that help people make sense of change, imagine alternatives, and participate in creating what comes next. I'll be writing, speaking, and facilitating more work in this territory in the coming months. If your organization is navigating change and looking for ways to stay relevant and impactful in a changing world, I’d love to collaborate.Shalane Katugampola liked thisAt Accelerate Her Future's Women + Future of Work Symposium, held in collaboration with the South Asian Women's Collective on June 1, futurist Negin Sairafi guided our morning Process Lab through a question most rooms never get honest enough to ask: What tension, insight, or question feels most important not to lose sight of when it comes to women + future of work? We read through every single reflection submitted to that question across the full Process Lab; all 274 of them. Here is what we learned: 🔑 Visibility ≠ power and influence. Being invited to the table and influencing what the table decides are two different things, and this room named the gap out loud. 🔑 "Programs" and "pathways" are not the same word. Programs create opportunities for learning and access, and pathways in how we design decent work structures. 🔑 Being handed a task in the workplace is not the same as being handed trust. Leaders delegate work, but rarely the trust, confidence, support, or authority that makes it possible for their team members to actually own it. 🔑 Discussions on AI brought a fine balance between hope and worry. Reflections on if AI "could reduce bias", or would accelerate it? Could it be designed in a way that centers people, or would it eliminate the very judgement it is meant to support? The room asked for real feedback loops, so the people affected by AI-driven decisions have a way to weigh in before the decision is made, not just adopt it after. 🔑 Insight is not impact. Some in the room asked the same uncomfortable question: are we just holding these discussions with those that are already bought in to reimagine and build new systems? The real change isn't what happens in this room; it's whether it reaches more of the people who hold the power, influence, vision, and resources to build prosperous futures for all. Facilitating a room to get this honest about the future of work is a real skill. We appreciate Negin, for holding the space that made it possible. Shalane Katugampola liked thisHad the honor of representing dentsu on a panel about agentic commerce at The ADVERTISING Club of New York’s inaugural Commerce Media Exchange Conference, alongside Mastercard, Wevo, and API. A few things we talked about: 🔹 Agentic is changing media buying: shifting from "execute the plan" to "continuously prove and reallocate". A fundamentally different skill set for a media team. 🔹 Agents are only as good as what they know about the person they're acting for. Grounding them in first-party, permissioned data instead of generic behavioral assumptions. 🔹 Brand differentiation in an agentic marketplace. Brands can't out-personalize the agent, but they can give it reasons to weight them beyond price including trust signals, loyalty history, and values alignment. Great conversation, great company on stage. Thanks to The Ad Club of NY for hosting! An insight I loved from Tanya Cohen: “make your consumer a fan, and they will buy more—storytelling is the unlock to that fandom.” One thing is clear: creator Hollywood is here to stay and the brands who jump in early will win.Shalane Katugampola reacted on thisYesterday at IAB' s inaugural CreatorFronts, dentsu's Cathy Boxall joined Tanya Cohen, MADE BY US Studios, creator Adam W and TikTok's Marisa Hammonds for a conversation on how creators are reshaping the future of entertainment. From digital fandom and creator-led storytelling to film, streaming, and brand partnerships, the discussion explored how the path from the phone screen to the big screen is getting shorter and what that means for marketers. As creators become a driving force behind audience discovery, cultural relevance, and intellectual property development, brands have new opportunities to engage audiences earlier and more authentically. I got quoted in Skai 2026 State of Retail Media report this week - this one is all about measurement. According to Skai, only 15% of brands say they're highly effective at measuring retail media performance. From all my conversations... that sounds about right. But the tools are out there, and the agencies to support you are out there (hint... we do this extremely well). It's not because the tools or the knowledge don't exist. It's not because the methodology is too complex. It's not even a data access problem. The real barrier? People and ownership. 56% said they lack internal analytics or data science resources. Nearly 1 in 5 said there's no clear cross-functional ownership between sales, media, and analytics. In my opinion lack of analytics access is the excuse. Lack of ownership is the problem. I stand by that. Here's what I see constantly with brands: the retail media budget grows, the channel count grows, the retailer portals multiply and the analytics infrastructure stays exactly the same. We keep pouring spending into the machine and then wonder why we can't explain what it's doing. And the incrementality gap is brutal. 75% of brands say incrementality measurement is their #1 challenge. But only 20% are actually good at both measuring AND applying those insights to decisions. Everyone knows it's the north star. Almost no one has operationalized it. The aspirations vs. reality data were the most telling part of the whole report. Brands hope incrementality will unlock profit margin improvements (68% said so). Only 24% have actually achieved that. That gap isn't a measurement problem. It's an organizational design problem. If you're a Head of #eCommerce staring down a budget conversation right now, here's the honest takeaway: You don't need another dashboard. You need to invest in this and give authority to someone who owns #incrementality end to end, standardize definitions your media, finance, and analytics teams all agree on, and a decision cadence that actually changes what you do next. As always, I'm here to help. DM me with any questions.

“If you want to build your brand in the hearts and minds of consumers, partner with Ace, because here, your brand is our priority” A conversation with Kim Lefko is the reason I joined Ace Hardware Corporation. I think it’s easy to see why in her most recent episode with Peter V.S. Bond of The CPG Guys. With a brand background, a clear vision, and a passion for driving results, her brand-forward and outcomes-focused take is refreshing. Ace’s mission is to help others. RedVest Media, as an extension of that mission, has the goal of delivering value to consumers, building loyalty and driving results for retailers and brands. I’m so proud of what we are building together, the team that’s moving the work forward, and, especially of the values and vision underpinning it all. #retailmedia
