Nailing your interview answers is important, but the first and last moments of an interview can leave the strongest impression. The First 3 Minutes: Make a Strong First Impression ✅ Show confidence – Smile, make eye contact, and bring positive energy. ✅ Engage in small talk – Don’t just respond; lead the conversation to set a warm, confident tone. ✅ Answer “Tell me about yourself” the right way. Keep it focused and relevant: • 80% about your experience and skills. • 20% about how you align with their team, values, and mission. The Last 3 Minutes: Where Most Candidates Stumble This is your chance to stand out and don’t waste it. 🔹 Ask smart questions – Bring 6-7, and choose 2-3 that show you’ve done your research: • “What does success in this role look like after 90 days?” • “How does this position contribute to the company’s biggest goals?” • “What’s the leadership style here? How is feedback given?” 🔹 Close with confidence • Confirm next steps. • Thank them sincerely. • Leave a strong, lasting impression that says, I’m the right fit. Your first and last impression will make all the difference. Make them count.

I would add one more closing question for the candidate: "Is there anything else you would like to know about me or have any hesitation that I can help address?" Doing this netted me 3 offers. But do this with the final interview.

Something I’ve been developing is the idea of asking interviewers situational questions similar to those they ask us. For instance: “What type of boss do you prefer to work for?” becomes “what type of employee best fits into your team?”
