FORD BIKE OUT

The Ford Bike Out held in Cebu last Sunday July 31 was an amazing sight to see, with 500 triathletes and cyclists swarming the roads of Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, Cebu and Talisay Cities as they recon the 90km bike route of the forthcoming international sporting spectacle 2016 Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championships.

Thank you Ford Cebu and Ironman 70.3 for this wonderful cycling event.

SWIM. 16-year old Luis Miguel "Igimax" Maximo (left), the youngest participant of the Xterra Tri, with good friend & fellow Cebuano actor Matteo Guidicelli, prior to the start of the 500meter swim leg.

SWIM. Finishing the 500meter open water swim in 10minutes using a Santini TriSuit with a Twist Gel technology.

TRANSITION. Shifting his focus from swim to the 35km bike leg.

BIKE. Negotiating the "Graveyard" downhill route wit his reliable and tough Kenda Nexcavator off-road tires.

BIKE. The tough and very technical course resulted in some crashing down the hill and others opting to dismount on their bikes to get past the downhill route.

BIKE. With Lilo-an's historical landmark - The Lighthouse, serving as the backdrop

RUN. Doing the last and final leg - the 5km run.  Photochromic eyewear lens technology by Lazer Argon

FINISH. The junior road cyclist completing his first-ever triathlon event in 3hrs 2mins 34secs.

Luis Miguel "Igimax" Maximo of Cebu-YKKBikes, 16yo and 4th year high school student of PAREF Springdale School.  A member of the Philippine Junior Cycling Team that participated in the 2012 Asian Junior Cycling Championships.

The 16yo lad (left) up against older and bigger racers from Hong Kong (red), Kazakhstan (blue), Iraq (white/red), Japan (white/red) and other Asian countries. 

The federal city of Putra Jaya hosted the massed start road race events.

With extensive support from the Malaysian government, the roads were completely closed to vehicular traffic.

The riders about to be released for the gruelling 115km road race.
