Square Print Sale: Youth
Exploring the essence of Youth ahead of the Magnum and Aperture Square Print Sale, from October 20 to October 26.
Over 100 photographers from Magnum and Aperture explore what it means to be young in the 26th Square Print Sale, titled Youth, which runs from October 20–26, 2025. Here, find a selection of the over 100 images available to buy as limited-edition, signed or estate-stamped 6×6″ prints this week only.
Youth is about a moment, a memory — a state of becoming. It’s the spark of firsts: the first glance, the first protest, the first kiss, the first fall, the first revelation. With over 100 images selected by the photographers themselves, the October 2025 Square Print Sale explores the many faces of youth across generations and geographies.
Youth captures the electric charge of growing up. It brings together icons in their prime — Dennis Stock’s enigmatic portrait of James Dean, Danny Clinch’s shot of Bruce Springsteen, Phillippe Halsman’s image of Brigitte Bardot — and the young at heart, as in Werner Bischoff’s portrait of Frida Kahlo months before her death.
It seizes moments of the young and restless, from Robert Capa’s teenagers drinking on a film set to Raymond Depardon’s bubble-gum blowers in Glasgow. Intimate portraits trace the arc of self-discovery: Olivia Arthur’s child on the cusp of change and Alec Soth’s lone dancer both capture the spirit of youth, regardless of age. This selection reminds us of our own beginnings, encapsulating how being youthful is not only an era in our lives, but a state of mind.

Friendship is a theme that permeates the entire selection, with many images depicting pairs. These images present a homage to the people that we grew up with, to long afternoons spent playing or passing time, and to shared experiences that come to define us even when memory fades.
Presented in collaboration with Aperture, this year’s Square Print Sale includes works by various artists represented in historic as well as contemporary Aperture publications and initiatives. Proceeds from the Sale, in part, directly benefit the artists and support the full range of Aperture’s nonprofit publishing and educational programming in New York and worldwide.
