Deck Dry Bones is a boss minigame in Mario Party 9. It is the mid-boss battle against Dry Bones in Boo's Horror Castle.
Overview[edit]
The players are standing on a rock platform, facing a smaller one with the disassembled Dry Bones lying on it. After a moment, Dry Bones assembles himself and jumps into the air, laughing at the players. Several cards then appear onscreen.
Each card has a color and shape on its back. The players must memorize which card has which figure. After the cards flip over, Dry Bones lands on one of the platforms, and the players must pick one of the cards whose shape matches the platform Dry Bones is standing on. If the players choose correctly, Dry Bones will be damaged, and the players will be rewarded with three points. If the players choose a Dry Bones card or do not choose any cards at all, Dry Bones will toss a bone at them, causing them to lose one point. Picking a card that does not match in figure causes nothing to happen. As Dry Bones loses health, more cards appear, along with more colors and shapes to choose from. When Dry Bones is at half health, he stomps around in anger. After the cards are flipped over, Dry Bones runs across a column (row if there are two players playing) of cards and shuffles those cards. The player or players who land the final attack earn an additional three points, and the player with the most points wins. Upon defeat, Dry Bones breaks apart and vanishes, revealing Mini Stars in Party Mode and Solo Mode.
This is the only boss minigame in which all players can tie for 1st place, which can happen if they all select the correct cards.

- As Dry Bones takes damage, additional platforms appear, along with additional cards to choose from.
- When Dry Bones loses half of his health, he becomes enraged.
- During the second half, after the players see the cards, Dry Bones shuffles the cards in one of the rows or columns.
- The winners are decided after the minigame, based on their final scores.

The word "deck" in "Deck Dry Bones" can refer to a set of playing cards or a verb meaning "to punch someone to the ground".
