Ghost Valley 3 is the third course of the Special Cup in Super Mario Kart. It was subsequently reused in Mario Kart: Super Circuit as the second track of the Extra Special Cup. The road for this course has numerous holes and has very few side rails.

Ghost Valley 3 appears alongside the other two Ghost Valley courses in Mario Kart World, where it is traversed during intermissions to or from Boo Cinema.

Super Mario Kart[edit]

Course layout[edit]

This Ghost Valley has the most sharp turns and most narrow roadway compared to the others. The course begins with a 90° turn to the right followed by a straightaway; the straightaway has the only set of ? Panels as well as a jump pad and two large holes in the road. There is then a sharp right turn and the track briefly zigzags before racers take a slight right turn and U-turn to the left. There is then a brief straight with another large hole in the middle of the road. Afterwards there is two more 90° right turns followed by a brief straight. This straight has several large holes as well as a zipper which leads into a jump pad. After two right turns and one more brief straight, racers reach the finish line.

Some of the course is surrounded by tiles which act as guard rails, but bumping into a tile will destroy it, allowing racers to go through the subsequent gap and fall off the course.

Shortcuts[edit]

A notable shortcut can be found at the end of the first straightaway. The player can preemptively turn right and use a Feather or well-timed hop to jump over a gap and cut off the following U-turn.

The course reappears in Mario Kart: Super Circuit, and is the second track of the Extra Special Cup. It uses the background from Broken Pier. The zipper and the legs holding up the track are removed and an extra item box can be found after the second jump pad.

Boo Cinema

Ghost Valley 3 reappears in Mario Kart World, marking its first appearance in a Mario Kart title since Mario Kart: Super Circuit.

It can be found on the in-game world map alongside Ghost Valley 1 and Ghost Valley 2 outside Boo Cinema. Being located on the right of the three (when facing the cinema) towards the route to Starview Peak, Ghost Valley 3 is not actually involved in any Grand Prix; instead, it is delegated to Knockout Tour and Free Roam mode. It is unknown if it can be selected in VS Mode.[1] Like the other Ghost Valley courses here, it now takes place over a lake, surrounded by dead trees.
