Gold Lakitus[1] are enemies introduced in New Super Mario Bros. 2. Lakitus transform into them while the Gold Ring is in effect. Gold Lakitu fly around in golden clouds. They throw three coins at once instead of Spinies, a behavior similar to the Lakitus spawned from square clouds in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. A Gold Lakitu is worth 20 coins when defeated, more than most gold enemies. If defeated, a Gold Lakitu's cloud becomes usable temporarily, generating coins while moving in a manner similar to Gold Blocks.
A Gold Lakitu appears in the Gold Rush Mode of the Poochy Dash mode in Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World. Gold Lakitu represents the toggle for the mode, with its cloud as the button and Lakitu popping out while it is active. In a course entered in Gold Rush mode, Gold Lakitu usually flies on the right side of the screen at the same rate Poochy moves while leaving a trail of golden beads behind behind it. If Poochy stops, then Gold Lakitu will stop, though Gold Lakitu does not reverse to match Poochy. Gold Lakitu follows the path through the course that completes all of the missions and grabs all of the Poochy Pups, then fly away right as it reaches the goal. Certain sequences have the Gold Lakitu be closer to Poochy, such as if Poochy has to slide through a long area and thus slow down substantially. Even still, Poochy is unable to reach the Gold Lakitu at any point.
