First appearance Mario is Missing! (1993)

Tong Tong (童童, June 1, 1986–July 8, 2000)[1] was a female giant panda that was born and resided in the Ueno Zoo in Tokyo, Japan. She makes an appearance exclusively in the PC version of Mario is Missing!, where she is an artifact stolen by a Koopa from the Ueno Zoo, forcing it to close down. After Luigi returns Tong Tong to the curator, they reward him $1950. Despite being a panda, the DOS version reuses the Taronga Zoo koala icon for her. Additionally, she is mistakenly referred to as male in-game.
