The Nintendo Switch is a hybrid video game console produced by Nintendo and launched in March 2017. Two original Metroid games, Metroid Dread and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, has been released for the Nintendo Switch. Additionally, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which features Metroid content, was released in 2018. A remaster of Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime Remastered, was also released on the console in 2023.

Furthermore, older Metroid titles were made available for the console via the Nintendo Switch Online service, as part of the Nintendo Classics line, which currently include Metroid, Metroid II: Return of Samus, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, and Metroid: Zero Mission.

The Nintendo Switch has received two additional models: the portable-only Nintendo Switch Lite in 2019, and the Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, which features a larger, OLED display and was released alongside Metroid Dread on October 8, 2021.

A successor to the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, was released on June 5, 2025.
