Types of Peels

Chemical facial peels are gentle acids used to exfoliate the outer layers of skin, allowing new, smoother skin to take its place. This may help erase etched lines and wrinkles, rejuvenate and hydrate your skin, balance oil production and give it back its natural glow. They come in different strengths. The deeper the facial peel, the more prolonged recovery but the greater the result.

Light

Light chemical facial peels gently exfoliate the epidermis to improve the complexion with little-to-no downtime. A series of 3 peels every 3-6 months is recommended for optimal results.

Medium

Deep

Our deepest chemical peels offer dramatic, long-lasting results in just one treatment. This treatment is deep enough that it must be performed under anesthesia at a surgery center. This treatment has a peeling period of 7-10 days.

Planning Your Peel

Preparation

ZO Ossential® Stimulator Peel requires no preparation and can be booked the day-of. Other peels will require a quick phone consultation beforehand to make sure your skin is prepped accordingly. Some peels require patients to pre-condition their skin 4–6 weeks before the peel, following a protocol that includes retinoic acid or a 0.5% or higher retinol product.

Dr. Patel’s phenol peel will require an in-person consultation before treatment.
Recovery

Different depth peels have different downtimes. The ZO Ossential® Stimulator Peel has no downtime, just an instant glow!

With our other peels, expect one to two weeks of peeling and potential redness/irritation. During this time will instruct you how to care for your skin. Temporary swelling is common but resolves quickly. After the skin has resurfaced, patients with lighter peels will have minimal-to-no redness, while those with deeper peels may have some redness for weeks to months. At this time, redness may be covered with makeup.
Side Effects

Chemical peels have been used for decades for cosmetic purposes. Common effects associated with them include mild tingling or burning sensation during the procedure, redness, irritation, peeling, and lightening of the skin. Serious side effects, such as infections, prolonged redness, and scarring, may result with deeper peels if not done carefully by an expert. These side effects are minimized by following our protocols.
Results

The ZO Ossential® Stimulator Peel will leave you with instantly glowing skin and results that improve after each session.

For medium & deeper chemical peels, results become better and better over a six month period as new collagen is laid down and tightening occurs.
How Often Can Peels Be Repeated?

ZO Ossential® Stimulator Peels are recommended in a series of 3 to 4 weekly peels. Repeat every 4-6 weeks for maintenance.

Medium chemical peels can be repeated every 3–4 weeks. Repeat 2–3 times per year for maintenance.
