Nodrive 0.50.9
The public beta replaces 0.50.8 and prevents the internal diagnostic panel from opening in release builds. Existing drives and data are unchanged.
Release safeguard
Release builds no longer expose diagnostics
The application now declares whether the internal diagnostic panel exists, and the interface offers it only in development builds. If an older version cannot answer, the panel stays hidden.
Its session-expiry and sleep-switch changes are included in 0.50.9, together with the diagnostic-panel fix.
Beta testing
Suggested checks for 0.50.9
- Confirm that
Ctrl+Shift+Ddoes not open a diagnostic panel in the release build. - Leave Nodrive open until a session expires and verify that it explains the condition and follows the selected close-window behaviour.
- Check the sleep or hibernation setting and the updated switch.
Nodrive 0.50.8
Session expiry is no longer silent and the sleep or hibernation option uses a switch. This version must not be distributed; its content is included in 0.50.9.

Drawn interface icons, corrected button contrast, clearer wording and complete open-source licence notices inside the app.

A consistent four-step drive-creation flow, provider setup from each provider card and a security fix that clears temporary authorisations when Nodrive is locked. Existing drives and data are unchanged.
New drive
Four clear steps for every storage choice
Drive type, Storage, Settings and Confirmation now remain in the same order for every drive. Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, WebDAV and S3 are connected or configured from their own cards, with visible connection state and account information.
Fresh provider authorisations and WebDAV/S3 credentials are removed from memory together with the key that unlocks the data.
About and wording
Product links and storage names are consistent
- Website, release notes, support, open-source licences, Terms and Privacy open in the language selected in Nodrive.
- “Your cloud” is now “Your storage”; “This computer” is “This PC”.
- Access mode is an explicit choice and Continue remains disabled until the step is complete.
Beta testing
Suggested checks for 0.50.6
- Connect more than one provider and move back and forth between their cards.
- Create a second drive on the same provider without reopening the browser.
- Lock Nodrive, unlock it and confirm that provider authorisation is requested again.
- Repeat the four-step wizard in English.

First run and recovery
One decision at a time, with a recovery key for everyone
The initial setup is now a three-step path: protect Nodrive with a password, save the recovery key, then decide whether to connect an account. The recovery key is mandatory and can now be saved as a clearly explained file as well as copied.
The recovery-key file is intentionally unencrypted. Store it on a separate device or another safe place, not in a cloud-synchronised folder.
Unlocking
Clearer access recovery and press-to-reveal passwords
- “Sign in” is now “Unlock Nodrive”, matching what happens on the computer.
- A visible “Forgot your password? Use the recovery key” route replaces the old diagnostic detour.
- Password fields can be revealed only while the eye button or keyboard key is held.
- The Light/Dark selector is available before unlocking.
Drive card
Three labelled storage numbers
Used, Nodrive capacity and available space on the storage medium now appear together, with locale-aware formatting and a clearer “Mount and open” action.
Drive menu
Three stable destinations
The menu now contains Drive settings, Drive management and Export. Unavailable actions stay visible and explain what must happen first; deletion lives only in the Danger zone.
Interface
More usable on shorter Windows screens
- The header and search remain fixed while only the drive list scrolls.
- Spacing compresses automatically in a short window and drive cards are about one fifth lower.
- Drive creation uses “This computer”, “Nodrive Cloud” and “Your cloud”, with clearer capacity and offline choices plus a final summary.

Fixes
Clearer sizes, validation and translated errors
- 1 TB is formatted as 1 TB rather than 1,024 GB.
- Low-space warnings now state both available space and configured capacity.
- Capacity changes no longer trigger an unrelated rename error on a mounted drive.
- A capacity below current usage is rejected before saving.
- Visible errors and labels now follow the selected language.
Beta testing
Suggested checks for 0.50.4
- Run first setup from a clean installation and save the recovery key to a file.
- Recover access with the recovery key.
- Open the drive menu with a drive mounted and closed.
- Try a short window or 125–150% Windows scaling.
Nodrive 0.50.3
- Expired or revoked cloud-provider authorisation is detected as soon as a file is opened.
- The reconnect warning persists until reconnection succeeds.
- Reconnect is always available from the menu for Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox.
- Security-key wording now clearly distinguishes a FIDO2 key from a USB memory stick.
Nodrive 0.50.2
- WinFsp is checked again when returning to the app, so the missing-component warning disappears automatically.

Nodrive 0.49.0
A short field release that makes imported drive copies easier to name and fixes conflicts when two copies of the same drive coexist.
Import
Choose the imported drive name
After choosing where to import a .nodrive package, you can now confirm or change its drive name. Nodrive reads the encrypted name instantly without touching the data blocks and checks for duplicates before the transfer starts.
A drive in your account and a copy imported on this computer do not synchronize after import.
Moving drives
“On this computer” now explains the available route
The move window now includes the local-computer option. Moving changes the storage provider, while transferring between account storage and this computer currently uses encrypted export and import, with a button that starts the export directly.
Fixes
Same-name copies no longer interfere
- Opening a snapshot of one copy no longer closes the mounted drive belonging to another copy.
- The historical-version banner always identifies the correct drive and storage space.
- Deletion progress appears only on the card of the copy being deleted.
Beta testing
Suggested checks for 0.49.0
- Import the same package with a different name and verify that both copies coexist.
- Try a name already used at the destination and confirm the transfer does not start.
- Open snapshots on both copies.
- Use “On this computer” from the move window to start an encrypted export.
Nodrive 0.48.0
- Move a closed drive between connected storage providers without decrypting its blocks or losing history.
- Pause, stop and resume transfers; source data is deleted only after explicit completion and a fresh destination check.
- Import encrypted packages to the computer or a chosen provider, with progress on the drive card.
- Export to a single ZIP file and choose folder, ZIP or encrypted drive in one window.
Nodrive 0.47.0

Main feature
Two ways to take your data out of Nodrive
Open the ⋮ menu → Export… on a drive and choose what you need:
- Files you can use: export readable files to a folder on your PC. Existing files are not overwritten and incomplete files are skipped and listed.
- A drive you can preserve: create one encrypted
.nodrivefile containing the drive, its recycle bin and its history.
A readable export is protected only by your PC after it leaves Nodrive. A .nodrive archive remains encrypted and can be reopened only with your account.
You can also select files and folders in File Explorer, right-click and choose Nodrive → Export…. Nodrive reads up to 16 files in parallel, so the transfer depends on available bandwidth rather than Windows requesting one file at a time.
Encrypted archive
Export, store and import an entire drive
The encrypted archive has its own icon. Double-click it to import it, or use This PC → Import a Nodrive drive. Nodrive verifies the archive before rebuilding the drive and detects damage instead of silently restoring incomplete data.
The archive opens only with your account. If you lose both your password and recovery key, nobody—including Nodrive—can decrypt it.
Important: an exported archive is an independent copy. Deleting the cloud drive does not delete the archive you saved.
Recovery and space
Repairs before cleanup
- Check drive now reconnects useful uploaded blocks before removing anything left over; one real drive recovered 694 MB.
- History for deleted files no longer retains storage forever.
- A blocked upload queue can be unlocked after showing the exact files that cannot be recovered.
- A local block is released only after it has been stored successfully.
- Restore points are no longer created during a copy and never include incomplete files.
Speed
Parallel reads and downloads
- Opening a file no longer blocks other drive operations.
- Make available offline downloads 16 blocks at a time and shows progress.
- Encrypted export reuses the local cache when available.
Interface
Progress stays with the drive
Checking, converting, opening, closing and exporting are shown on the relevant drive card while the rest of the app remains usable. Menus now open reliably, reposition when needed and scroll on smaller screens.
Additional fixes
Cleaner copies and clearer results
- Long lists of incomplete or skipped files are easier to read.
- Windows service files such as
Thumbs.db,desktop.iniandehthumbs.dbare accepted and discarded without a copy error. - Canceling an export pauses the operation while you confirm, so it cannot finish behind the dialog.
Beta testing
Suggested checks
- Export a complete drive in both formats and compare it with a File Explorer copy.
- Stop a readable export halfway and restart it: it should resume without overwriting completed files.
- Export an encrypted archive and import it on the same PC.
- If a drive uses more space than expected, close it and run Check drive.
System requirements
Where Nodrive 0.47.0 works
- 64-bit Windows 10 version 1709 or later, or Windows 11.
- WinFsp installed; Windows on ARM is not supported.
- Windows Server 2019 and 2022 have not been tested.
- Passkeys require Windows Hello, a security key or a Bluetooth phone.
Known limits: files kept continuously open remain marked incomplete and are skipped by readable exports; encrypted archives currently import as local drives, not directly to cloud storage.
