Valley Brook Ave. Lyndhurst (south end) will be closed for improvements beginning April 28. This road work is projected to conclude in 3 – 4 weeks.
To access the NJSEA/Richard W. DeKorte Park/Meadowlands Environment Center during this period, you need to detour to Disposal Road.
- Enter “Disposal Road, North Arlington” in your navigation system (car or smart phone); or
- Click here to use the Google Maps to navigate the detour.
NOTE: The signpost at the top of Disposal Road is labeled “Silkowski Rd.”. Silkowski Rd. leads into Disposal Rd.
Once you are on Disposal Road, follow it until the end and turn right into DeKorte Park.

Native Plant and Butterfly Walk
DeKorte Park, Lyndhurst

Get acquainted with DeKorte Park’s majestic butterflies and the beautiful, native plants throughout the park with the Bergen County Audubon Society.
Fast fact: Milkweed, a native plant found in the park, is the only plant on which Monarch Butterflies lay eggs, an especially important fact as the species is in decline.

Butterfly Day

Butterfly Day is back! The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority and Bergen County Audubon Society celebrate the wondrous species. Butterfly Day is a family favorite, with a Butterfly Costume Contest and plenty of kid’s games, crafts and giveaways. There are also walks, talks, presentations and information tables. You’ll learn how to attract butterflies in your own backyard.

Special Evening Nature Walk
