Electronics 1 Practical 2: AIM: To Determine The Characteristic Curve of A Diode. Equipment Required

This document provides instructions for an electronics experiment to determine the characteristic curve of a diode. Students are asked to build a circuit with a diode, 560 ohm resistor, and 22k potentiometer. They then adjust the potentiometer to set voltages across the diode from 0.1 to 0.75 volts and measure the current through the 560 ohm resistor at each point, recording the values in a table. Finally, students will draw a graph of the current versus voltage measurements to illustrate the characteristic curve of the diode.

AIM: To determine the characteristic curve of a diode.
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
1. Multimeter and test leads.
2. Breadboard.
3. Power supply and connectors.
4. Components: 1 x 560 resistor
1 x diode
1 x 22 K pot.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Build the circuit above and then do the following:
1. Adjust the potentiometer so that there is 0,1 V across the diode.
2. Measure the voltage across the 560 resistor and calculate the current and fill it in
on the table.
3. Repeat 2 and 3 for the other values in the table below.
4. Draw a graph of current versus voltage for the diode.
