ABC Menagerie: by John Q. Adams

Fromeachofthefollowingprints,cutastripmeasuring6.5x44,andthen cut4rectanglesmeasuring6.5x10.5(youwillonlyuse3fromeachprint). Thiswillyield36rectangles,ofwhichyouwilluse27. DW56inblue,green,andpink DW57inblue,green,andpink DW58increamandblue DW59incream 2. Fromeachoftheremainingprints(DW60andDW61inblue,green,and pink),cut2stripsmeasuring3.5x44. 3. Fromthebindingfabric,cut62.5stripsforbinding. Assemblyinstructions: NOTE:seamallowancesareassumedthroughout 1. PairaDW60stripingreenwithaDW61stripingreen.Sewthetwostrips togetheralongthe44edge,resultinginastripmeasuring6.5x44. 2. Cutthisstripdowninto3.5x6.5rectangles.Thiswillyield12rectangles, eachmeasuring3.5x6.5.

Sewtwooftherectanglestogetherafterrotatingoneoftherectanglessothat alternatingprintsareplacedinopposingcornerstocreatea4patchunit measuring6.5square.Continuewithallrectanglestoyield64patchunits. 4. Repeatsteps13withtheremainingDW60andDW61stripsingreen.Then, repeatwithpairsofDW60&DW61inblue,andwithpairsofDW60&DW61 inpink.Oncecomplete,youshouldhave364patchunits(12eachingreen, blue,andpink).NOTE:youwillonlybeusing27oftheseunits(9ofeach color). 5. Layoutthequilttopaccordingtothediagrambelowwithdirectionalprints allfacingthesameway.Placethecoloredunitsrandomlyforaneyepleasing distributionofcoloracrossthequilttop.

6. Assembleeachrow,andthenjoinrowstogether. 7. Quiltasdesired,andbindtocomplete.
