A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF EVERETT SCHOOL DISTRICT No. 2 RESOLUTION No. XXXX Amendment to Resolution No. 1015 Censure of School Board Director Jessica Olson
WHEREAS, the Everett School Boards has, acting with a 4-1 majority and with full board authority, undermined public trust and sought to publically discredit Director Olson by falsely accusing her of violating the Open Public Meetings Act in its censure of February 11, 2011; and
[THIS LANGUAGE IS TAKEN FROM PARAGRAPH 7 IN THE ORIGINAL CENSURE DOCUMENT, IN WHICH THE BOARD STATES THAT OLSON MADE FALSE ACCUSATIONS OF OPMA VIOLATIONS. IF THE LANGUAGE WAS ACCEPTABLE WHEN LEVYING THE CHARGE AGAINST OLSON, IT IS ACCEPTABLE WHEN LEVYING THE SAME CHARGE AGAINST THE BOARD.]
WHEREAS, the charge above has been demonstrated as false by state law (RCW 42.30.070), the advice of the Attorney Generals Office of the State of Washington, and the Board Presidents own words in open session the night of the censure; and WHEREAS, the board of directors openly and properly committed itself to upholding policies providing for open, honest, and respectful communication, adherence to state law and policies governing the boards actions and behaviors, and to acting in a concerted fashion to set an example of positive leadership for the Everett Public Schools; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the board of directors does hereby retract that publicly aired false and misleading charge of violation of the Open Public Meetings Act designed to publicly discredit Director Olson without any evidence, which was revealed to be totally unfounded; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the board of directors does hereby apologize to Director Olson for stating as fact that she violated the Open Public Meetings Act when it was known that she did not.
