INSTALLATION Follow these easy steps to install your Newpoint surge protector. Phone Outlet 5, Turn OFF your computer, monitor and peripherals. Plug your computer, monitor and periph- erals_ into. your Newpoint Personal Computer-Grade surge protector. Plug your Personal Computer-Grade surge protector directly into any three wire, properly grounded wall outlet, Do not use extension cords or adapters. The ComGuard Internet/modem/tele- phone protection units (S75T/S75T-10) have two RI-I1 phone jacks. Use a telephone cord to connect your modem or fax to the jack marked OUT. Then connect the jack marked IN to the nearest phone outlet. See diagram below. ‘Surge Protector Fax or Mager Turn your Personal Computer-Grade surge protector ON with the recessed power switch. Once ON, the protec- tion light should turn ON. If it does not, see the Troubleshooting section. Connected devices will also be pro- tected in the OFF position Turn ON your computer, monitor and peripherals. Mounting Your Surge Protector Use two #6 screws (not provided) placed 8,2 inches apart to mount your surge protector, TROUBLESHOOTING Your Personal Computer-Grade surge protector comes with an indicator light to warn you if a problem exists. The unit is functioning proper ly when the green protection light is ON This section will help you solve common prob- lems. For further assistance, call Newpoint’s Warranty Service Department at (619) 677-5700. Protection light is OFF. The unit is not receiving power. Check the unit's circuit breaker located on the side of the product. If the black button has “popped out,” push the button back in to reset the unit, If the button pops out again, disconnect 1 or more pieces of equipment until the problem is solved Protection light is OFF and the u receiving power. The unit was damaged by an excessive power disturbance. Disconnect the unit. Contact Newpoint for further troubleshooting, Telephone line is dead, protection light is ON (models $75T/S75T-10 only). First, make sure your phone line is in ser- Vice. If it is, disconnect the unit. The Newpoint surge protector must have been damaged and failed to protect against the power disturbance. ?olicy protection due to telephone Tine tran- sients is included only on surge protectors that offer modem or fax line protection Equipment damaged must be owned by the orig- inal purchaser of the Newpoint surge protector. This policy is null and void if the Newpoint surge pro- tector was improperly installed, tampered with, or altered in any way, or if the connected equipment was not used under the normal operating conditions or in accordance with any labels or structions. This policy does not cover damage resulting irom accident This policy is limited to transient surge damage to the equipment protected by the Newpoint surge protector. The destruction, loss or distortion of data or software are hereby specifically excluded
