Room Mom Letter

The teacher is asking for parent volunteers to help with upcoming classroom parties and events. Most party dates are filled except for Christmas. Parents signed up for parties should trade dates if needed. The fall festival will be October 28th where the class is running a balloon popping booth, and parents are asked to sign up for 15 minute time slots to staff it. The class will also create an auction item for a spring fundraiser. Throughout the year there will be opportunities to recognize the teacher for holidays and events.

Dear Parents,

Wow!! We are off to a great start this year!! The first six weeks is behind us and well ½ of the second and everything in
Mrs. Thomas’s class is going great.

Thank you for signing up to help with classroom parties throughout the year. At this point most parties are spoken for
except Christmas, however we can all help each other to make a less stressed party captain do not be afraid to ask for
help. The party “captains” will be responsible for paper goods, juice/water, snacks, and an activity. Activities in the past
that have been fun are decorating cookies, making a simple craft, holiday bingo etc. Party favors are not required and do
not have to be provided by party captains.

We hope all parents will attend the parties. If the date/party you signed up for does not work with your schedule, please
switch with another parent and let us know. Please have the room set up for the party 15 minutes prior to the scheduled
party time. If you are able to come, please take pictures and forward them to me or Shelia Adams adams-
s@saintcyprians.org so that we can make sure to be in the yearbook. Groups shots as well as individuals are needed for
the yearbook.

Fall Festival will be Thursday, October 28th from 4:30-6:30. This is a fun afternoon for the entire family. This year’s theme
is “DINO-RIFFIC”. Our class will be in charge of the “Pterodactyl Balloon Pop”. If you have any ideas or can help with set
up please call me, we will set up around 3:30. I will ask each student to provide a small garbage bag full of air filled small
balloons the day before set up to use in the booth please, please, please! If you have darts we can use those too. During
the festival, we need each family to take a 15 min. time slot to help man the booth we need 2 helpers at all times. I think
our booth will be a big hit and if everyone helps you will have plenty of time to enjoy the festival with your child. Please
look for the signup sheet outside Mrs. Thomas door.

Also, our class will be responsible for creating an item to be auctioned off at Bayou Bash. The class will work on this
project together in early spring, but the office will need to know what we are doing for our project in January. The cost
per family is around $15. If you have an idea for the project let me know.

Finally throughout the year there are some special days when we will want to recognize our teacher for all her
dedication to our children. These days would include Christmas, Valentine’s day, Birthday, Teacher Appreciation Week
(May), and the end of the year. I will include a list of likes and dislikes.

Thank you so much for your help and support for Mrs. Thomas. Please call or e-mail if you have any questions, or stop by
my room (right next door I teach Kindergarten in 306.

Sincerely,

Jane Shepherd
