This file lists the operating system and PC hardware requirements necessary to run the contents of the
OMICRON DVD.
 The DVD typically contains:
•    OMICRON Test Universe 3.20
•    OMICRON Tutorials
1 Requirements for OMICRON Test Universe
List of operating system and PC hardware requirements necessary to run Test Universe 3.20.
 Operating system
Test Universe 3.20 is tested to be compliant to the following versions of Microsoft Windows:
•    Windows 7                      (32 bit/x86 and 64 bit)
•    Windows 8/8.1                  (32 bit/x86 and 64 bit)
•    Windows 10                     (32 bit/x86 and 64 bit)
 Recommended minimum hardware requirements for computer hardware
•    1.5 GHz Pentium 4
•    2 GB RAM (Windows 7, 8 and 10)
•    1024 x 768 pixels or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor
•    1.5 GB of available hard disk space
•    DVD drive
•    Ethernet NIC1 for network-compatible CMC test sets.
•    USB 2.0 port for CMC test sets with USB connector.
•    For CMC test sets with parallel port interface either a parallel printer port is needed or a USB port in
     combination with a CMUSB-P converter.
     Note: The use of a parallel printer port works with Windows 7 (32 bit/x86), only.
1.   Ethernet NIC: An Ethernet Network Interface Card is a PC board (or integrated module) that serves as interface between a network-com-
     patible device (PC, notebook, CMC test set) and the "outside world" (PC, network hub, Internet). The NICs are used to interface with CMC
     test set(s) connected to the Ethernet via RJ 45 connector.

    Test Universe Protection Testing Library PTL
    The requirements are identical to the ones of the OMICRON Test Universe 3.20 listed above
    (→ “Requirements for OMICRON Test Universe” on page 3).
    Test Universe Tutorials
    Microsoft Windows with a preferably up-to-date version of one of the following Web browsers: Internet
    Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome.
    Test Universe Field Calibration Software FCS
    The Test Universe Field Calibration Software is tested to be compliant to the following versions of
    Microsoft Windows:
    •   Windows 7             (32 bit/x86 and 64 bit)
    •   Windows 8/8.1         (32 bit/x86 and 64 bit)
    •   Windows 10            (32 bit/x86 and 64 bit)
    3 Firewall Configuration for Using Network-Compatible
      CMC Test Sets
    A proper firewall configuration is essential to successfully establish a communication between your CMC
    and your computer. This applies to both Ethernet and USB ports.
           For details about a proper firewall configuration, refer to the Getting Started with Test Universe
           manual, chapter Firewall Configuration.
