N-Trip Sheet RIH

The document discusses preparing a trip sheet for running drill pipe and drill collars back into a wellbore. It provides an example trip sheet for running in hole with 12 1/4" drill bit along with 80 stands of 5" drill pipe and 6 stands each of 8 1/4" and 6 1/2" drill collars. The trip sheet tracks the stands tripped, theoretical and actual displacement, and gain or loss of fluid during the operation. Proper preparation of a trip sheet is important for safely conducting tripping operations.

Tripping

POOH RIH

Wet Dry Close end Open end

Prior to start tripping Operations we’ve to prepare the trip sheet by the following:-

1-Determine the classification of tripping (POOH/RIH).

2-Determine the type of tripping (Wet=close end/Dry=open end).

3-Determine the type of string involved in this operation.

4-Prepare the calculations of metal displacement for the string components.

5-Make your own table to facilitate the calculations.

6-Print the Trip Sheet and start to fill the data.

For Example

If you RIH (open end=without float valve) with Drill string consist of the following:-

12 ¼’’ Bit.

6 std. x 8 ¼’’ Drill Collar ID=2.875 in.

6 std. x 6 ½’’ Drill Collar ID=2.8125 in.

80 std. x 5’’ Drill Pipe ID=4.27 in.

Metal Displacement
