The manufacturer diagnostic tool is the preferred tool for
performing diagnostic work. Contact your local dealer for
 more information or visit “www.premiumtechtool.com”.
The control modules on the information link communicate
according to the SAE J1587 standard. The standard has been
extended with Volvo’s own supplement (PPID, PSID). The fault
codes set by the control modules contain information that is
described by the following abbreviations.
MID Message Identification Description: SID Subsystem Identification Description:
Identification of a control module. Identification of a component.
PID Parameter Identification Description: PSID Proprietary Subsystem Identification
Identification of a parameter (value). Description Volvo:
PPID Proprietary Parameter Identification Unique identification of a component.
Description Volvo: FMI Failure Mode Identifier:
Unique identification of a parameter (value). Identification of fault types.
