Dia of Column, Dia - 1600 - : Punching Check General Data

This document provides information to calculate punching shear for a circular column with a diameter of 2000mm. It includes material strengths, section dimensions, loads, and calculations of shear stress and capacity. The demand to capacity ratio for punching shear is 0.92, which is less than 1.0, indicating the design is adequate.

PUNCHING CHECK

COLUMN TYPE CIRCULAR

General data:
fck = 40 N/mm2
fy = 500 N/mm2
Dia of column, dia = 2000 mm
-- 1600 --
Depth of slab, d1 = 750 mm
Depth od pedestal/drop, d2 = 750 mm
total depth of critical section, d1 + d2 = 1500 mm
effective cover, d' = 75 mm
Effective depth, d = 1425 mm
width of perimeter, L22 = 3425 mm
length of perimeter, L33 = 3425 mm
perimeter, qo = pi x dia = 10759.95 mm

Load data:
Shear force, Vu = 18446.66 kN
Unbalanced moment, Mu2 = 3034.48 kNm
Unbalanced moment, Mu3 = 1287.33 kNm

Punching Shear stress calculaion:

Vu/(qo x d) = 1.203 N/mm2
Mu2/(L2 2* L33) = 0.182 N/mm2
Mu3/(L2 2* L33) = 0.077 N/mm2

Total shear stress = 1.462 N/mm2

Punching Shear capacity:

β =L2/L3 = 1.0
Ks 0.5+β = 1.5 or 1.0 whichever is less
vu Ks x 0.25√fck = 1.581 N/mm2

Demand / capacity ratio for punching = 0.92 < 1.0 Hence OK
