DAILY LESSON PLAN OF GRADE 9 MATHEMATICS
Integration of Arts in Mathematics
November 13, 2018
Content Standards: The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of
quadrilaterals (parallelograms, trapezoids, and kites) and triangle similarity.
Performance Standards: The learner is able to investigate, analyse, and solve problems
involving quadrilaterals (parallelograms, trapezoids, kites) and triangle similarity
through appropriate and accurate representation.
LC Code: M9GE-IIIa-1-2
Curriculum Guide No. 38
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the student will be able to:
a. identifies quadrilaterals that are parallelograms;
b. determine the conditions that guarantee a quadrilateral a
parallelogram;
c. create a geometric greeting card using the quadrilaterals that are
parallelogram.
II. Content: GEOMETRY
III. Learning Resources
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide Pages (4-8)
2. Learner’s Material Pages (305-319)

VI. Procedures
A. Refreshing the mind of the students.
The students will have a game called “Fast Talk.” The teacher will show an
image/shape. The student will identify and give what is ask or shown by the
teacher.

It is good when refreshing some terms taught to you before. This shall
guide you in determining which quadrilaterals are parallelograms.
B. Establishing a Purpose for the Lesson
Quadrilaterals are useful in dealing with real-life situations like problem
solving. There are a number of different types of quadrilaterals, some of
which are harder to find in real life, such as a trapezoid. But, look around you
– at buildings, at patterns on fabric, at jewelry – and you can find them!
C. Conducting of Activity
Fantastic Four!
Direction: Divide the class into four groups. Each group will receive four (4)
cut out quadrilaterals. Their task is to measure the sides, angles and diagonals
of each quadrilateral to complete the matrix.
Parts of Quadrilateral Parts’ Name Measurement Conjecture

D. Discussing New Concept
There are different properties of a parallelogram. These are the following:
Properties of Parallelogram
1. In a parallelogram, any two opposite sides are congruent.
2. In a parallelogram, any two opposite angles are congruent.
3. In a parallelogram, any two consecutive angles are supplementary.
4. The diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other.
5. A diagonal of a parallelogram forms two congruent triangles.
E. Finding practical applications of concept and skills in daily living.
There are infinite quadrilaterals in real life. Anything with 4 sides, even if the
sides are uneven, is a quadrilateral. Examples could be: table top, book, picture
frame, door, baseball diamond, etc.
The importance of quadrilateral would probably relate to the
variety of shapes often used in the building of modern structures. The
triangle, for instance, is often used in construction because its shape makes
it comparatively strong. Another quadrilateral is the rectangle. The
rectangle is used in a number of applications, due to the fact our field of
vision broadly consists of a rectangle shape. For instance, most televisions
are rectangles to allow for easy and comfortable viewing. The same can be
said for photo frames and mobile phones screens.
F. Making Generalization
There are conditions that guarantee that a quadrilateral a parallelogram: A
quadrilateral is a parallelogram if both pairs of opposite sides are congruent, if
both pairs of opposite angles are congruent, if the diagonals bisect each other,
if each diagonals divides a parallelogram into two triangles and if one pair of
opposite sides are both congruent and congruent triangles.
G. Evaluating Learning (Across learning area – ARTS)
Direction: Create a geometric greeting card. It should be in a form of
quadrilateral that is parallelogram. Make it creatively through your art materials.
H. Assignment
