4 months on shore followed by 8 months on board
Duration training
i) Passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics
and English as separate subjects with minimum 50 %
marks in English Language at 10th of 12the standard
exam.
ii) Passed three years’ Diploma with 60% marks or four
year’s Degree including lateral entry, with 50% marks in
Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering,
Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and
Telecommunication / Communication Engineering, or
Electronics and Instrumentation or equivalent.
Academic Qualification
iii) The diploma /degree courses must have been
recognized by any State or Central Government or the
AICTE,
iv) Candidates who were admitted in Diploma course on
the basis of Matriculation only and went to complete
their B.E. / B. Tech degree course as a lateral entry in the
2nd year of the degree on the basis of Diploma, and has
secured the degree in the disciplines mentioned at (II) of
the above, are also permitted to be admitted in the ETO
course.

July 2019 can apply for the July Batch.
Students who have successfully cleared BE final year but yet to clear any backlog in any Semester of the
earlier years are not eligible.

ABOUT LOAN PROCESS
1. Course is approved by some of the nationalized banks for educational loan and
payment of entire fees/expenses will be solely the responsibility of candidate.
2. As per recent RBI guidelines you have to apply for educational loan in the
Nationalized Bank at the place where you are presently residing.
3. We will help you in providing documents (D.G. Approval, Sponsorship Letter,
etc.) required for availing educational loan from the bank.
You are requested to send us the scanned copy of the following documents to

Physical Standards:
1. Candidates should be healthy and physically fit for sea service as per STCW 2010/MS
Medical rules 2000 and all its amendment as applicable to seafarers.
2. Candidates will have to undergo a full medical check-up through our Panel Doctor
approved by D.G.S hipping. (To know more about STCW 2010/MS Medical Rules 2000, kindly
visit D. G. Shipping website “www.dgshipping.com".)
Eyesight:
1. Distance vision (unaided): 6/12 in each eye; or 6/9 in better eye and 6/18 in other eye.
2. Normal colour vision.
3. Candidates will have to undergo a full eyesight test by a Company Medical Officer.
Minimum Height: 157 cms. Minimum Weight: 48 Kg.

After applying online, the company will inform the eligible candidates about the time and
date of the Online Test by an email through our assessment partners “Aspiring Minds”.
Candidates must ensure they provide their correct email-id and phone

Online Test will be scheduled for the candidate when we start the
admission process for the batch.
Online Test Login details (Username & Password with the
Test Link) will be communicated to you through an email by
our assessment partners ‘Aspiring Minds’ with the subject
“Great Eastern Shipping Assessment Details”
The Candidate has to take the test from his/her home or the nearest
cyber cafe. You need to have a basic laptop/personal computer with
a web camera facility and smooth internet connection.
Technical Interview/ Medical In Mumbai Office – The Great Eastern Shipping

Exact dates shall be intimated to the selected candidates after the written
exams.
Candidates who are doubtful about their vision/physical fitness can
do their medical (Medical Fees Rs.3600/-) with our following
Company & DGS approved Doctor before Online Test & Interview.
However, the selection will be strictly based on clearing Academic performance,
Online Test, Technical Interview & Medical Clearance.

How to apply
Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria should apply by filling the Online Application
Form on the website.
The Application should be submitted in the format given in the website only, with one
recent passport size photograph pasted neatly in the right hand top corner.
IN CASE OF ONLINE PAYMENT

There is no need to send a hard copy of the application form for students who
do an online payment.
IN CASE OF DEMAND DRAFT
A Demand Draft of Rs. 1500/- (Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred Only) drawn on a
Mumbai branch of any Nationalised Bank crossed “A/c Payee Only” and payable to
“The Great Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd., Mumbai” must be enclosed with the
Application Form. Any Application received without the Demand Draft or for lesser
amount will not be considered.
Applicant must write his name in CAPITALS & (ETO course) on the reverse of the Demand
Draft.
Print out of the Online Application Form along with the Demand Draft should be sent in a
sealed envelope superscripted as “Application for ELECTRO TECHNICAL

Trainee Electro Technical Officer- Asst. Electro Technical Officer Electrical Officer
17 weeks training at the Institute -> 8 months training on ship as Trainee Electro Technical
Officer > Around 6 months sailing as Asst. Electro Technical Officer > Post successful clearance
eligible for employment as Electro Technical Officer globally.
- Stipend for Onboard Training as Trainee Electro Technical
Officer: Rs.30, 000/- pm.
- Stipend for Onboard Training as Asst. Electro Technical
Officer: Rs.50, 000/- pm.
On successful clearance of Examination & Ship’s Evaluation, Elevation
as Electro Technical Officer, the salary will be that of MUI 1st Year Scale
(approximately Rs.1, 25,000/- p.m., subject to applicable TDS, if any)

General Instructions.
1. The Applicants are responsible to ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria, regarding
educational qualifications, MMPE test, age and eyesight.
2. Applicants are required to have a passport in hand before joining the course.
If not, candidates are requested to apply for passport on an urgent basis.
3. Eligibility criteria for admission to the course are as per the guidelines issued of the
Directorate General of Shipping and hence are not changeable.
4. If any false / incorrect information furnished by the Applicant is detected at any stage,
his/her candidature will not be considered and if selected, he will be removed from the
training course and course fees will be forfeited
5. Course fees, advance fees, Examination fees once paid, will not be refunded,
partly or otherwise, under any circumstances.
6. As the applications are processed by a computerised system, it is essential that the
application be forwarded strictly in accordance with the prescribed format.
7. Duly filled in Application Form should have one photograph pasted and Demand Draft
attached. Originals/photocopies of certificates etc. should not be sent with the application
form.
8. All fields in the Online Application Form should be filled with correct details and
Application number/Enrollment number should be noted by the candidate for
all future reference.

9. Candidates should possess at least Twelve (12) recent passport size photographs (front
view) and these photographs only must be used on Application Form, Interview, Medical
Examination, training etc. Any change of photograph will disqualify the Candidate.
10. Candidates, at the time of interview, will be required to produce original copies of proof of
age, Degree Certificate, HSC Certificate or equivalent, SSC Certificate or equivalent, where
applicable from Govt. recognized board/universities.

Note:
The Offer of admission for Pre-Sea Training and Shipboard Training by GES shall not be
considered as guarantee of employment on completion of such training. However, in the event
of GES offering employment after passing the Examination, the candidate shall agree to be
bound to accept our employment and serve on our vessels for a period of three years. This is a
requirement as per the Gazette Notification S.O.2132 (E) issued on December 12, 2007 by
Govt. of India.
