Reading Reflection
Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson
Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
Catalyst by Laurie Halse Anderson
The books that I read taught me to keep pushing through tough situations, especially
Twisted. Tyler was put through really hard situations, but he the way he just got through it all
really taught me that you can’t let anything stop you. Catalyst was the most difficult book I’ve
read. It had a lot of dark moments in it. When Mikey died it was really difficult for me to finish
reading. I don’t usually like reading sad books, and although this one was very sad, it was a good
read.

I did not reach my reading goals. I really wish I
concentrated more on reading this year, I just can never focus
on reading for a long period of time. I wish I at least tried
reading more genres.
My reading habits did not change much over this year. I’ve never really been a big reader
and I don’t think I ever will be. I would like to try out some new genres I’ve never read before,
but I’m worried I’d get bored and never finish them. I conferenced a couple times this year. They
did not go as well as I would have liked, but that is all my fault. They would have gone much
better for me if I read more and updated Goodreads regularly. My favorite book I read this year
was Speak. I think it can be very relatable to lots of high school students. A lot of the things that
happened in the book are things that I have seen happen in real life. I really enjoy reading
realistic fiction books because of how relatable they can be. I would say I am someone who
enjoys reading books if I can relate to them. Other genres tend to be boring to me and I can never
finish them. If I am really interested in a book, I will be able to read it and enjoy it. For example,
I don’t enjoy fantasy books that much because I know it could never happen in real life, and I
can’t relate to it. I didn’t quite stick with my plan to read 12 books this year. I got very distracted
and wasn’t able to finish it. Next year, I would really like to try more genres and maybe find one
I enjoy like realistic fiction. I think I also need to push myself to read more, even though it’s not
something I really enjoy doing.
In the middle of the school year, I lost my Goodreads account so I don’t have any of my other
reviews, or my reading progress.
