Geography A large part of Germany in the north

Rhein-Rhur area, Rhein-Main area, Frankfurb Cologne,
Stuttgart, Bremen, Hannover, Hamburg, Munich, Leipzig,
Dresden are all thickly populated. Formerly there were
various tribes in Germany such as Franks, Saxons,
Swabians, Bavarians. Now the population is mixed but
old traditions, festivals and dialects remain. Although dia-
lects are very much different from each other, there is a
common grammar and the basic vocabulary is also
