Study of Medha MRT 918 speed reader cum
indicator in ALCO locos-layout, circuit, function and
maintenance.
Speedometer definition
A speedometer or a speed meter is a gauge that measures and displays
the instantaneous speed of a vehicle.
MEDHA MRT 918 speed recorder come indicator
MRT 918 is used on Diesel Electric Locomotives. It can also be used for
Electric Locomotives, Rail Cars and Electric Multiple Units. These Digital
Tachographs are used for indication and recording of speed, time,
distance, other locomotive operating parameters. This is a
Microcontroller based system with high accuracy and better reliability.
The system also records data of Dynamic Braking, Coasting Duration
and operation of Tractive Effort limiting switch (ON/OFF) of the
locomotive. Apart from these parameters, any five digital inputs can be
interfaced for monitoring and recording purpose. The data is recorded in
a compact credit card sized and rugged memory card, consists of State-
of-Art high density flash memories, which do not require any battery for
retaining the data. Also full backup of same data is maintained in the
Recorder. Recorded data can be retrieved, analyzed and printed using
Data Retrieval Unit, connected to a PC with data analysis software MSW
918.
For Indication in Second Driver Cab, Speed Indicator type MRT 918
Indicator is available. This is a slave unit and gets all the Information
from Master. it receives Speed, Time and Distance data from the
Recorder cum Indicator unit through serial communication. This data is
deciphered by the micro controller and all parameters are displayed
same as in Master Unit. This provides cost benefit by avoiding
duplication all hardware. Data Entry Keyboard is provided for entering
the Driver Settable Parameters and for viewing all the parameters.
