About VMKB-

Sheth Varjivandas Madhavdas Kapol Boarding School,

popularly known as VMKB was established in the year 1896 by
Sheth Shri Tribhovandas and Sheth Shri Jagmohandas in the
memory of their father Sheth Shri Varjivandas Madhavdas, a
well known philanthropist from the renowned Rupji Dhanji
family of the Kapol community. During its formative years, the
institution was nurtured by Sheth Shri Tribhovandas himself.
After his sad demise, his younger brother Sheth Shri
Jagmohandas not only assumed the responsibility of managing
the institution but also donated generously to make it
financially independent. This philanthropic legacy was then
continued by his wife Lady Laxmibai over the years. The
founding fathers of VMKB had envisioned this institution to be
a place where bright Kapol students would be provided with
all requisite facilities and infrastructure to pursue their
academic goals. Their vision has now blossomed into a reality
as VMKB, which earlier housed 7 students now ensures the
overall personality development of 100 plus students staying
therein and has won accolades from all over for its
contribution in the upliftment of the Kapol and many non-
kapol students and the society at large.
The construction of the present boarding school was
completed in year 1937.

From the editorial desk –

“A journey of a thousand miles

begins with a single step”
We humans are the most social animals on this planet.
We always need a medium to express our feelings. For
the same reason we bring to you the first edition of
‘HRIDAYAM’.
Finally dream of having a hostel magazine is a reality
now. By the mean of this magazine we would be able to
express our feelings by different means of arts and
articles.
I would like to thank trustees and all the SMC members
who inspired us. I would also like to thank all the
students who actively participated in this initiative.
In the last but not the least I would like to thank general
secretary Harshil Mehta for believing in me and for
giving me a chance to work for the first edition of
‘HRIDAYAM’.

Revolution
Get up guys its not too late
You are close to the success gate
Life is a journey so long!
There are many things you can do along

Neglecting, Hiding, Escaping from Challenges is not the solution

Accepting challenges is the best resolution
Hey! Opportunity knocks your door sometimes
Greet it with a simple smiles

I am busy mom, oh dad!, 10 minutes, 5 minutes, just a minute, just a

second, after some time, sorry, oh sorry and so on
This is my standard response
Reasons are hundred for not doing the work
But your single decided step can change the world

I think so smart of myself

That I have made everyone a fool
But I realize someone saying to me
Sorry bro! It is YOU who has become a fool

21 | P a g e
Whatsapp, Insta, Snapchat and facebook has brought us together
But it has created a gap of emotions altogether…

There is no shortcut for success in life

There is no money without hardwork
There is no relation without emotions
There is no success without dedication

No one is up no one is high

Everyone is on a single line

Let the floods come

Let it be dark night
Let the storms come
But stay on your resolution
This is the solution
This is the revolution

BENEFITS OF SOLVING PUZZLES

If you thought the advent of smartphones and tablets had

made puzzles obsolete. YES, It’s true that, nowadays,
you’re more likely to see kids playing video games than
solving challenging puzzles. Here I have described some
amazing benefits of solving puzzles that will compel you
to solve them. Solving puzzles helps reinforce existing
connections between our brain cells. This, in turn,
improves mental speed and thought processes. So, it
shouldn’t come as a surprise that one of the other benefits
of puzzles is that they help raise our IQ (intelligence
quotient). It also improves visual spatial reasoning which
is very important for engineers, architects, etc. Puzzles
are also extremely portable and feasible, especially in the
digital age, in which we now live. I do solve a lot of puzzles
and I have noticed drastic changes in my overall well
being. It has also helped me increase my academic
performance. You too can become a puzzle geek by
taking small step like downloading any puzzle games, just
learning to solve 3x3 Rubik's cube and many other steps.

I hope this article will help you a lot.

#beinghappy
Who controls our happiness? God, nature, parents or someone else? In my
view, happiness is within our control and is a choice we all make for
ourselves. Many of us depend on various external factors to create and
determine our happiness. But, is that correct? We must know the fact that it
is we who have to choose to be happy!
It all starts from being concerned with what one is doing. Most of us have
the mentality to constantly keep checking as to what others are doing in life.
At times, their development makes us unhappy. But as they say that all the
fingers of the hand are not the same, we must realise that what others do in
life doesn’t make you happy. It is your own well being and correct way of
living that makes you happy. Happy people are content being themselves
and focusing on their own well being.
Competition is a huge obstacle in the road to happy life. In the fast moving
world, competition is must. However, in order to stay happy, we need to
make peace with the fact that there will always be someone better at, more
qualified, educated and successful than us. We need to learn, get inspired
and stop wasting time to be like someone else, in order to maintain our
individuality and contribute uniquely to the world.
Happy people are naturally happy go lucky persons. They don’t take
themselves too seriously, they are able to laugh at their own expense, know
how to make light of situations that would bring most people down and have
the ability to find the silver lining in the worst of circumstances.
Happy people don’t focus on the rear-view mirror of their life because they
know that what lies ahead is way better than anything that has been left in
the past. They embrace change and new opportunities, knowing that life is
progressive and offers a pool of chances to us.
To sum up, we all must learn to find happiness and positivity in the walks
of life because it is all that is need to stay content and lead a peaceful life.

All is in the head.

Perception. That's all it's about. The one thing that we always
seek is happiness. Call it happiness through sheer appreciation
by others, joy of being in the presence of loved ones, job
satisfaction, success through determination or simple
pleasure of drinking cold water after being in the sun.
We label it differently, but all we seek is happiness. Some
people give up the feeling of being appreciated, or credited for
their actions, which is for a satisfaction of working without
motive, again, happiness.
We fall in different situations, every single day. Different
oppositions, different people, places and so many countless
things around us change; but the objective is to still seek
happiness out of our actions.
So if you've gone through a tough period, or even going
through; then whatever it might be, a loss in a business, a
failure in exam, loss of a loved one, unsuccessful in some task..
there will always be a moment at which where you get
frustrated and fed up and just too impatient to wait for the
right time, what should you do?
Crying, regretting, smoking, is not an option! These never shall
be your options. Your options should be perception. Look at
the world and introspect. "YOU FAIL, BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T
TRY HARD ENOUGH."

33 | P a g e
Stop the blame game. Take the false results on yourself and
move on. The more you keep cribbing about all that you can't
have right now, the lesser you'll be able to realize the beauty
of everything that's given to you, to the most amazing person!
A person with unlimited potential, but unrealized caliber. This
is what you become when you presume you have lost
something or someone or somewhere.
Remember, there is always a way to look at things that is
obvious to the normal thinker, which comes to thought in a
milisec; And then there is the better way of looking at things,
always finding a ray of hope and latching onto it.
Before you realize, opportunities are gone, and every single
moment there is an opportunity to be better. To get what you
want, to be the best.
All you need to understand is it's never going to come quick,
never easy.
You have to choose between what do I want now, and what
do I want most!
The day you decide to side by what you want the most, that is
the day you win, maybe not entirely, maybe just fractionally,
but you win!!
Remember, it's all in the head.

The Organs of the Government, Hindrance or a Boon?
A nation like India is governed with the help of a document
known as the Constitution. The Constitution is a document
having a special legal sanctity which sets out the frame-work
and the principal functions of the organs of the Government of
a state and declares the principles governing the operation of
those organs.1 The three organs of a state are the Legislature,
the Executive and the Judiciary.

Each organ of the government has its own distinct role to play.
The Legislature legislates laws, the Executive executes the
laws framed and the Judiciary acts as a guardian to the
Constitution. Our Constitution is an amalgamation of the
various Constitutions of the world and many of our laws which
govern the country are inherited from the Colonial era.

Concerning this article from the point of the Indian Judiciary.

In 2016 India ranked 66th among 113 countries in the World
Justice Project’s Rule of Law Index.2 The WJP Rule of Law
Index measures countries’ rule of law performance across eight
factors: Constraints on Government Powers, Absence of
Corruption, Open Government, Fundamental Rights, Order and

Justice.3

As on 19 February 2019, more than 2 crores cases are pending

in the India courts (inclusive of all types)4 . On one hand we
blame the Judges that they do not deliver justice and keep
delaying the matters whereas on the other hand as one matter is
getting heard a thousand more is being filed. Laws ought to
ease the lives of humans rather in India laws are a hindrance to
one’s life and dignity, the courts ought to be the temples of
justice rather they are the biggest hindrance towards the
development of an honest society. The question is how?

The answer lies in-front of us and amongst the black robes

flying past in the corridors of the courts and the various
tribunals constituted to make the justice system more efficient.
All cases are being heard, all cases are being represented by
advocates on either sides. By its very nature one party is on the
side of the truth from the very beginning while the other party
is on the side of what is known as the lie. But the Counsel
representing both the parties will try their level best to win the

case and go home. While decree is always reserved for one side
whether it is the party contending the truth of the party
defending the lie, a judgement has to come.

The point in the above paragraph is simple, that the contending

Counsel knows whether s/he is contending the truth or
defending the lie and in-spite of it is selling her/his professional
time in what we call as the “temple of justice”, and this is the
biggest factor contributing to the delay in the justice process of
our country.

Abraham Lincoln has best put is as "if in your own judgment

you cannot be an honest lawyer, resolve to be honest without
being a lawyer."

The legal profession requires honesty and more over it demands

a true conscience. The author is not trying to say that a case
must not be defended if it is wrong, it definitely must be
defended, but at the same time the client must be counselled
that her/his acts were wrong and s/he must pay for his acts,
reaping honesty through the profession is what one must
practice, not simply the practice of law.

Law is considered to be a noble profession, noble means

“having or showing fine personal qualities or high moral

37 | P a g e
principles”, and therefore one practising the profession must
abide by the literal interpretation of the word noble and
honesty, the two cardinal principles during practice.

We the current generation have a huge responsibility upon us,

as lawyers, as clients, as Judges, as Counsels to practice and
propagate only what is true, to what ought to be true. Simply
by criticizing regarding the number of pending cases no output
will be derived. To reduce the number of cases and enhance the
working of the Judiciary the steps have to be taken by all my
dear readers.

The author believes that this article instils a food for thought!

ZIPPING UP THE MISTY CHAOS

It is very rightly said that, there is no better teacher than life. A

13 year old lower-middle class boy Prabhu is trying to survive
through the chaos, which is at every corner in his life. Prabhu
was labeled as the dumbest person in the class, everyone
laughing at his result, his physique, his mental condition, his
parents were even fed up with him. He was totally in mental
trauma, watching everyone with Argus eyes and was having lots
of irons in the fire. He desired something which was extravagant.
He desired ofhaving bright love in such a dark life. He
approached an adept girl in his class, called Ishika, very
ephemerally. There he caught the Tartar, he was not only
glossed over but hauled over the coals by very
harsh pedantry, “You got nothing in your life, better you stay
with wolves” this was the reply Prabhu got for his proposal. Now
the story begins, he determined to cut the Gordian’s knot and
melt all the irons in the fire; he decided to set his own house in
the order. He transferred to another school and then he knew
he had very long way to go. Slowly and gradually he stepped
ahead in his life eliminating problems overcoming
the chaos, it is said that running down a gauntlet is difficult, but
this boy wanted to scatter to the winds. Year after year he
developed himself straining his every nerve. Till he completed
his higher secondary
education he had weathered the storm. He was totally opposite
of what he used to be 4 years down the life, now he had the
money, the talent , everything you can possibly term it.

One very fine day Ishika was in need of a professional service of

which Prabhu was having adept and this was not known to
Ishika. Now Ishika calls his friend Karan to help her out in her
task. Karan was also a friend of Prabhu. Karan refers to Ishika to
42 | P a g e
take help of Prabhu and Ishika was taken away by the winds and
was not ready to believe the fact that Prabhu probably could
have risen like Phoenix from ashes.
Then she was briefed about all the talent of Prabhu and she was
speechless at the topic.
Now she calls Prabhu almost after total 4 years in the feel of guilt
and shame. Prabhu picks the call and his past was façade him
and he above the past.
It’s all about how you determine to take steps in your life,
everyone have their own set of problems it is your attitude and
the art of implication of your skills in the real life. We are taught
many theories in
schools and colleges but we are in a myth that these are ancient
theories and cannot be applied in life.
Courage is not something about being dauntless but it is about
something, having fear on one side and achieving aims on other.
Try to think practically in this techno-spiritual world, never let
the heart win
competing with the brain because your heart takes time to
accept things which your brain already
knows. And at last
Work while they sleep
Learn while they party
Save while they spend
And then live like they dream

Novels are able to enter into our thoughts and feelings."
In reading, we can physically change our brain structure,
become more understanding, and even trick our brains
into thinking we’ve experienced what we’ve only read in
novels. Stories have a beginning, middle, and end, and
that’s a good thing for your brain. With this structure, our
brains are encouraged to think in sequence, linking cause
and effect. The more you read, the more your brain can
adapt to this line of thinking. Any kind of reading provides
enthusiasm for your brain, but different types of reading
give different experiences with varying benefits. We
enjoy deep reading that allows us to feel what the
characters in a story feel. When we read, the brain does
not make a real difference between reading about an
experience and living it. Reading improves your aspects
and perspectives regarding the life. Reading books and
other materials with realistic imagery world is not only
fun, it also allows us to create our own world. By reading
regularly you can just finish the pages by scanning once,
this will lead your brain to become healthy. When we’re
told a story, not only are language processing parts of our
brain activated. Any book lover can tell you, diving into a
great novel is a great experience that can make your brain
come to life with visual images and emotions and even
turn on your senses.
