A: Deuteronomy 18:20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not
commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.

Therefore, they brought up their Jewish law which Pilate was required to honour as per Roman
precedent.

Q5. Why was Pilate afraid after he heard of the Jewish Law?

A: There were multiple events and possibilities that made Pilate fearful. He was afraid

Q8. What is the relevance of the Cross of Jesus Christ? Why it

important for us believers?
Solution for Original Sin - For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life
in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

Freedom from the curse of Law- For as many as are of the works of the law are under
the curse; for it is written, cursed is every one who does not continue in all things which are
written in the book of the law, to do them……. (but) Christ has redeemed us from the curse
of the law, having became a curse for us, for it is written , cursed is every one who hang on
the tree” (Galatians 3:10,13)

Satisfaction for the justice of God- For God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself,
not imputing their trespasses to them, and committed unto us the ministry of
reconciliation…For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin (offering) for us that we might
become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:19,21).
28
Revelation of the Love of God- But God demonstrated His love toward us, in that while
we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8)

Only way to overcome the Power of Satan - And you, being dead in your trespasses
and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having
forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the hand writing of the requirements that
was against us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having
disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing
over them in it. (Colossians 2:13-15)

Assurance of the Resurrection of the Believers - “For if the dead do not rise, then
Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!
Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we
have hope in Christ, we are of al men the most pitiable. But now Christ is risen from the
dead, and has become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man
came death, by man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die,
even so in Christ all shall be made alive” (1Cor. 15:16-22) 29

Questions from John 21

Q15. How did Simon Peter respond when he heard that the Lord
was at the shore?

A. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat to him, (for he
was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea. John 21: 7

Peter showed great excitement and enthusiasm when meeting Christ. He wanted to get to
the Lord as soon as possible as he couldn’t wait for the boat to get to the shore as it was
moving slowly because it was too full of fish.

Peter came to Christ showing his great love and eagerness to be with
him; and, as fearless of danger, risks all to be with Christ; his love
being such, that many waters could not quench, nor floods drown.

41
Questions from John 21

Q18. What were the instructions for Peter?

A. 1) If Peter loved Jesus more than his friends, he should feed His lambs.
2) If Peter loved Jesus, he'd take care of His sheep
3) If Peter loved Jesus, he'd feed his sheep.

Q19. In John 21:18, Christ says, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, When you were young, you gird
yourself, and walked where you would: but when you shall be old, you shall stretch forth your
hands, and another shall gird you, and carry you where you would not.’. What is Christ
conveying to Peter?
A. Christ said this to show by what kind of death he was to glorify God. In other words,
Peter would be a martyr for Christ and the Gospel.

The most commonly accepted church tradition is that Peter was crucified upside-down in
Rome. Tradition says that, when Peter was put to death, he requested to be crucified on an
inverted cross. The reason for his request was that, because he had denied his Lord, he did
not consider himself worthy to die as Jesus had (see Matthew 26:33–35, 69–75). Again,
this is only a tradition, and the Bible doesn’t confirm or deny the story. 42

Q.20. What is your understanding of John 21:25 And there are also many other things
which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world
itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

A. We can trust the Lord concerning the reliability of His Word, including what it contains
and what it omits. The Lord has given us all that we need for life and godliness. (2Peter
1:3-4)

His Word is sufficient for us to come to salvation and grow in holiness.
