o The teacher will let students explain the relationship of the organs of the body to how
collocations are like the different body parts – all are essential to the function to the
body. The teacher will then ask the following question:
What can you say about the connection of the body parts? Do you see a
similar connection like this with other words?
Why do we need to learn collocations?
          Abstraction
o The teacher will present a visual aid that contains the following lesson:
What is a collocation?
A collocation is two or more words that often go together. These combinations just sound
"right" to native English speakers, who use them all the time. On the other hand, other
combinations may be unnatural and just sound "wrong".
Collocation refers to how words go together or form fixed relationships.
                   typical collocations incorrect/untypical collocations

Types of collocation
There are several different types of collocation made from combinations of verb, noun, adjective etc.
Some of the most common types are:
adverb + adjective: completely satisfied (NOT downright satisfied)
adjective + noun: excruciating pain (NOT excruciating joy)
noun + noun: a surge of anger (NOT a rush of anger)
noun + verb: lions roar (NOT lions shout)
verb + noun: commit suicide (NOT undertake suicide)
verb + expression with preposition: burst into tears (NOT blow up in tears)
verb + adverb: wave frantically (NOT wave feverishly)
Collocations may be strong or weak. Strong collocations are where the link between the two words is quite
fixed and restricted. Weak collocations are where a word can collocate with many other words.
                   strong
Very few words can collocate with the
