This document describes two novel artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) structures designed to achieve a 180° reflection phase difference over a wide frequency band. A chessboard surface composed of these two AMC structures is proposed to both reduce radar cross section (RCS) and function as an antenna. Simulation results show the chessboard surface can significantly reduce RCS from 9 GHz to 17 GHz compared to an identical metallic surface. Additionally, with a carefully designed feed network, the chessboard surface can achieve impedance matching as an antenna from 9.22 GHz to 10.3 GHz. Thus, this integrated design approach allows for RCS reduction while maintaining radiation performance.
