The TUPV Balibolista is a club that develops both the physical and mental growth of the students
through the sport of volleyball with various activities. These activities measure the capabilities of
the participants in the said sport while also developing their mental attributes.
In line with this, we would like to request permission from your good office to conduct an
INTERBARKADA VOLLEYBALL. The said event would be open to all students of
Technological University of the Philippines Visayas. Attached is the INTERBARKADA
VOLLEYBALL’s Proposal.

Furthermore, we would like to request for the utilization of the TUPV Gymnasium to conduct the
said tournament on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Your favorable response will be greatly appreciated.

Rationale

Fitness is not limited to physical attributes alone, but also takes regard a person’s mental
capabilities. Physical fitness is the body’s ability to work efficiently and effectively without undue
fatigue while metal fitness refers to a state of psychosocial well-being which means being able to
think optimistically.
A great way to achieve physical and mental fitness is though sports. A person could enhance its
physical attributes by playing sports while developing his/her mental capabilities by thinking of a
strategy to win.

Involvement in recreational and fitness activities contribute much to the maintenance and
improvement of the physical and mental health of a person. For these reasons we are holding the
said Interbarkada Volleyball.
Participation to the program is not compulsory and open to all bonafide students of TUP Visayas.

Objectives of the Program

The Volleyball Tournament is aimed to:


a. Provide the participants the venue to showcase their skill in Volleyball;
b. Promote the game of Volleyball as a fitness and recreation activity;
c. Provide the respondents an avenue for fun, fitness and recreation;
d. Create and opportunity for healthy competition and camaraderie among the
participants;
e. Emphasize the importance of having recreation and fitness activity as part of one’s
lifestyle.
Description of the Program

The Volleyball Tournament is designed such that the students can participate in Volleyball games
in a structured tournaments using standard game regulations. The teams will be scheduled to play
at least thrice (3) a week. A total of eight (8) teams will compete in the tournament and they will
all be in the same pool. A team should have at least eight (8) members to qualify and shall not
have more not twelve (12) members. Each team is also obliged to pay a registration fee amounting
to two-hundred pesos (P200.00). This registration fee will then serve as the source of budget for
the club to provide the needs of the tournament which includes the prizes for the top 3 winning
teams. The tournament will follow a Single Round-Robin system. The top four (4) teams of each
pool at the end of the eliminations will automatically advance to the semi-finals. The semi-finals
will follow a best of three (3) sets and a best of three (3) games. The Rank 1 of will battle against
the Rank 4 of while the Rank 2 will battle against the Rank 3. The winners of the semis will battle
it out for the championship while the losers will try to take the 3rd place. The finals will follow a
best of five (5) sets each game which will also follow a best of three (3) games.

Participants
All enrolled students of the TUP Visayas are the target participants to the Volleyball Tournament.

Teams
Each team shall have at least 8 players and a maximum of 12 players. The team could either be all
male, all female, or a combination of both.

Game Format
Games during the eliminations and semifinals will follow a best of 3 sets, having a 25-25-25
format, while the finals will follow the usual best of five sets, having a 25-25-25-25-15 format.
Rules and Regulations
1. Each player should only have 1 team and transfer of players during the tournament is not
allowed.
2. Players are required to wear the proper attire for the game. Failure to comply will make
him/her unfit to play for his/her team.
3. The team should have at least 6 players on the start of the game, failure to comply makes
the opposing team the default winner.
4. All team members must be officially enrolled at Technological University of the
Philippines Visayas.
5. Each team are obliged to pay the registration fee amounting to P 200.00 (two-hundred
pesos) which will be used for to provide for the needs of conducting the tournament like
the prizes for the top 3 teams . Failure to comply will disqualify the team from the said
tournament.
6. The tournaments is exclusive to TUPV students only.
7. Standard FIVB rules and regulations shall be followed during each game.
