What is the
TOEIC???
Test Of English for International Communication
(TOEIC) is a test or test of English proficiency specifically
designed for English language proficiency in everyday contexts
for people working in an international environment.

TOEIC
The Educational Testing Service (ETS), a private
organization which focuses on educational measurement and
policy, was asked to create a test measuring English skills related
to the working world. The Ministry of International Trade and
Industry in Japan made the request with the goal of introducing
an internationally-recognized standard. As result, in 1979, the
TOEIC (test of English for International Communication) was
established.

Purpose of
TOEIC
The TOEIC user's Guide suggests that the can be used by corporations,
English training programs, English language schools, or individuals. the guide
reports that more than 4,000 corporations arround the world have used the test for
recruiting, promoting, and deploying employees. The test is also used by
corporations for screening employees for several purposes:
a. Technical training in English;
b. Overseas assignments;
c. Language training.
d. Hiring new employees
e. Assessing how well their current employees understand English
f. Add professional credentials
In addition, corporations can use the test for diagnosing their language
training programs and employees English profociency. educational institutions in
both ELS and EFL contexts have adopted the TOEIC for formative or placement
purpoeses. the TOEIC has been adopted by univerisities in Japan and Korea for the
formative assesment of students English proficiency and to assist student with
future employment. Finally, the TOEIC has been taken by individuals who wished
to show a measure of their english proficiency to their potential employers.

Scoring the
TOEIC
How is The TOEIC
Scored?
The TOEIC Listening & Reading Test lasts two hours [45
minutes for listening, and 75 mintes for reading]. It consists of
200 multiple choice items divided equally between the listening
and reading sections. Each candidate receives an independent
score for listening and reading comprehension on a scale of 5 to
495 points. The total score increases to a scale of 10 to 990 points.
What is Passing Score?
Different jobs or programs require different levels
of English, so there is not any particular score you should
reach - in other words, the TOEIC is not a test you can
either "pass" or "fail". check to see what score range your
company or program excepts.
How do I Get my score?
If you register for the test on your own, you will receive
your scores within weeks of taking the test. If you take the test
through the sponsorship of your company or other program,
your score will be sent directly to the sponsor, who will the
provide it to you.
