Do not un-install SIS Windows or STW before installing and
Licensing SIS DVD 2004B. The previous SIS users are converted
during the install process. A SIS DVD 2004B license is acquired
when a licensed version of STW/ET is present while installing
STW 2004B/SIS 2004B.

The option to start the library/shortcut at startup is
available during installation.
Starting the application during Windows startup will
enable the application to open quicker when it is
needed. If the application is not in the startup folder,
the applications will require more time to open.

Caterpillar ET Warranty Reporting
A new feature in Cat ET is to automatically gather all reports
from ET that are required for warranty claims to Caterpillar.
This functionality is for truck engines only for the 2004B release.
If there is any question if a work order is going to be a warranty
claim you should answer yes to the prompt. The .xml file that is
created in ET stand alone can be sent to SIMS. The ET XML
that is created within STW should also be sent to SIMS and the
full STW service report should be uploaded or entered into DBS.

When you launch ET from within STW or stand alone ET you will
get this prompt. Answer No if you what to proceed to ET and yes
if you want to save the reports that may be needed for warranty.

The green lines are editable and are not
“Grayed out”. When complete click next.

This can be changed to your choice of folder name and file name.
The xml file is check-summed within ET and will be checked in
SIMS for identical characters. The file cannot be changed in any way.

Caterpillar ET Trainer
There is now a better indication that the user is in trainer. A pop-up window will appear in
the lower right corner of the screen. This window is on for 8 seconds and off for 8 seconds. If
the user moves the mouse or uses the key board while the pop up is displayed, there is a ½
delay and the pop up will go away.

Component Based
Troubleshooting
Component Based Troubleshooting CBT, is designed to help
the technician troubleshoot symptoms of Caterpillar engines
and machines. After identifying a symptom, the technician is
presented with a list of components that, if not operating
properly, may cause the symptom . By using the information
provided for each component, the technician can identify the
root cause of the symptom and fix the problem. In addition,
CBT gives the technician links to related information in the
Service Information System (SIS).
