The document provides a study plan and book recommendations for preparing for the RBI Grade B Phase 2 exam starting from February 2019. It recommends focusing on books covering Indian economic history, macroeconomics, the Indian financial system, accounting, organizational behavior, and human resource management in February and March. These books will help develop knowledge of economic and social issues as well as finance and management topics covered in Phase 2. It also recommends reviewing RBI website materials. In April and May, the document suggests shifting preparation to Phase 1 topics with a focus on the 13 week preparation video available on YouTube. Following this plan would allow comprehensive preparation for both exam phases over 5 months.

provided I am good in aptitude and reasoning, only lacking is knowledge
about the banking and finance sector?

Generally, RBI Grade B exam is assumed to take place in August-September every year

(Tentatively). If you start RBI Grade B preparation in February 2019, you are expected to have at
least 6 months till July 2019.

This answer covers the next 3 months. I am not covering the complete 6 months because it is
always better to plan for near future and not the entire run of study.

The strategy of study should be to cover Phase 2 right now in the next 2 months and then to
move towards Phase 1 for the next 1 month.

FEBRUARY-MARCH:

ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL ISSUES for RBI Grade B Phase 2

I am assuming that you have very limited knowledge on ESI and you will be starting from scratch.
The following books need to be covered in order to get a good grip on ESI for RBI Grade B Phase 2.
These books will help in the preparation of RBI Grade B exam.

UMA KAPILA- Performance and Policies / MISHRA AND PURI- The book covers the entire history
of the Indian Economy after independence. It will not just be helpful in RBI Grade B Phase 2 but
also in the Interview. The structure of the book is a little problematic. I have created videos as
well as study material for Indian economic history based on Uma Kapila itself for better
preparation of RBI Grade B exam, but following a different and more refined structure. I follow
the method of “TIMELINE” in everything that I study and teach. This means that I try to create a
visual chart according to the time period so that it becomes easier to grasp and remember
whatever you study. for example, divide 1947–2016 into 3 time periods- 1947–1970; 1971–1991
and 1991-Present.
MACROECONOMICS- Macroeconomics can be covered very well from 12th NCERT on
macroeconomics and RAMESH SINGH. Cover basics properly so that you are able to understand
policy changes of RBI to a better extent.

NCERT ON INDIAN ECONOMY- This NCERT will supplement UMA KAPILA. You can go through
this book before starting with UMA KAPILA as this will clear out a lot of things about the history
of the Indian economy.

YOJANA AND KURUKSHETRA- These magazines cover schemes and policies of the Indian
Government in detail. Try not to get too much into these magazines as they tend to over-analyze
(for standards of RBI). Understand all schemes and current affairs and remember facts related to
these schemes. Spending too much time on these magazines might hurt you instead.

RBI WEBSITE- Useful in both Finance and ESI. You can use speeches, circulars, and notifications.

FINANCE and MANAGEMENT for RBI Grade B Phase 2

The following books will cover the majority of Finance and Management.

BHARATI V PATHAK- Indian financial system OR MY KHAN- Indian Financial System

R P RUSTAGI/ PRASANNA CHANDRA- Financial Management OR PANDEY- Financial

Management. I M PANDEY is more detailed but confusing at the same time. R P RUSTAGI is more
clear in his approach.

T.S. GREWAL- Accounting Ratios

S.P. ROBBINS, T N CHHABRA, GUPTA- Organization Behaviour and Theory. Anyone book will
suffice. T N CHHABRA is considered the best as it covers everything but it is technical so you
might find it difficult to understand.

ASWATHAPPA, T.N. CHHABRA, GUPTA- Human Resource Management. Anyone book will
suffice but T.N. CHHABRA and GUPTA cover everything related to HRM while ASWATHAPPA is
much more easy to understand and comprehend.

RBI WEBSITE- Same as above

One thing you also need to understand that many of the books recommended for RBI Grade B are
for detailed knowledge and therefore, their structure and language becomes a tricky portion to
deal with. But I would add to your knowledge that you are not required to bury yourself in the
voluminous books. You need to study only selected topics and sections. You can click here  to
get an extensive idea of the important books, sections, and newspapers you need to study.

Furthermore, aforesaid was the strategy for self- study but if you feel the need for any guidance
you can also watch my video on youtube of the 13 week plan  in which I cover the entire
syllabus in a comprehensive and strategic manner through which the students are prepared for
the RBI Grade B Phase 2 complete in just 13 weeks and then you have to additionally give 2
months of preparation for Phase 1. Thus in a lump sum time of 5 months, you will be
completely prepared for the exam.

I Hope this Helps!

All the Best!!
