In some countries, young people are encouraged to work or

travel for a year between finishing high school and starting

university studies.
Discuss advantages and disadvantages.

There is an advice that high school students who just graduated

should spend one year for visiting new places or do a job. I believe
that these two ways show both benefits and drawbacks.
One the one hand, there are some noticeable advantages for
young people to have one year free before attending university.
Firstly, they will have chance to experience the reality of the society
as well as gain a full awareness of the world. That also means
realizing how people is doing things and the emotions that they give
and take. Thus, students at higher education will be able to
understand their lessons from rich perspectives. Secondly, young
people can earn money as soon as possible when they have a job
and learn to live independently from their parents, which leads to
even more maturity.
One the other hand, there are some disadvantages for not going
to university at a sooner age. It is possible that students will be lost
if they are not guided or unlikely to recognize their aims. In fact, if
young people take their times for doing non-profit activities, they
will waste their precious time in a dubious way and it is apparently
that they cannot get the time back. Moreover, young people are
usually seem to be naive and, therefore, likely to be used. Recently,
newspaper and TV have reports that some teenager being in a
none-education status was told to deliver drugs with shaded
realization.
In conclusion, the decision of having a year for traveling or
working equally has bad and good aspects.
