Statement of Purpose
Right from my school days I had a strong inclination and curiosity about the working of
electronic devices. So I chose Electronics and communication Engineering as my under
graduation course.. My interest in the subjects and the thirst for knowledge has grown with each
passing year. I have come to terms with the fact that there is an enormous proportion of subject
to be assimilated, therefore I want to take up a research oriented course for my career. These
coupled with a background of my highly educated father and mother and also my sister, a
Chartered Accountant has made my choice of higher studies all the more obvious.
I have pursued good academics at each stage of my education. I was in the top 5% in my
schooling and Pre-University education. I got admitted to Siddaganga Institute of Technology,
one of the reputed institutions in the state through an entrance exam & by merit. I took
Electronics & Communication engineering as my major for it offered me innumerable choices of
specialization. During the span of 4 years I learnt Subjects like- Digital and Analog Electronics
Circuits, Digital System design with Verilog ,ASIC design , Digital Integrated Circuits, CMOS
VLSI Design, Network Analysis, Control Systems and Signals and systems.
I always had an affinity for programming languages so I opted Computer Science subjects for
my electives like-Foundation of computer programming, Object oriented programming, Data
structures with C, Programming with Python. These gave me a proper insight about software and
hardware knowledge which drove me to take up research as a career.
My first brush with serious research was in the final year of my undergraduate course when I
successfully completed a project titled “Li-Fi based Intelligent Voice Communication and
Device Switching”. The objective was to design and implement a communication system in the
real time environment using Li-Fi(Light Fidelity) such that it can communicate with maximum
speed and better efficiency using light as a medium. And also to build a switching system for
commercial use in home or office appliances which can be switched ON or OFF.
In a decade from now I envisage myself as a Research Scientist in premier research Laboratory
or in a reputed Industry Research and Development department. To be a researcher a fine
quality education is required , therefore my short time goal is to perceive my Masters in a good
University.
A Graduate education that would enable me to pursue advanced degree is what I have aspired
for. I also believe that good graduate program is an essential step for accomplishing my vision in
life. I hope to fulfill my ambition at the University of XXXXXXX, which is consider one of the
finest university to pursue graduate studies because of the excellent research facilities and highly
knowledgeable faculty like- CCCCC and XXXX under whom I could focus all my resources
towards academics and research.
I believe that the Graduate Program in your University will provide me the opportunity to enable
further honing of my technical and analytical skills acquired thus far. I am well aware of the
commitment and perseverance required for research and believe that my aptitude and motivation
will see me through the challenge. I am also confident that given an opportunity, I can contribute
to the ongoing work in your graduate program in a productive manner. I therefore look forward
to joining your esteemed university for pursuing higher studies leading to a Master's Degree.
Master’s from your university will not only impart a sound education in latest technologies, but
will also push me ahead in the computing world. I am well acquainted with the kind of
dedication, perseverance and resolve a graduate program calls for and I believe that I have the
ability and determination to tread on this exciting path. I am sure a quality education,
