PROCEDURE-

Boiling –

Boil water for 5-10 minutes. It kills all bacteria spores, cyst and ova and yield sterilized
water. It also removes hardness of water, store water in the same vessel.

Iodine solution-

Iodine solution disinfect water. Add 2 drops of 2% ethanol solution of iodine to 1 litre of
clear water. A contact period 20-30 minute is needed for effective disinfection.

PROCEDURE-

Chlorination by using chloride solution –

Chlorination is the one of the best method of water purification. Chlorine solution can be
prepared from bleaching power by adding of bleaching powder with 20 litres of water. It
available in market. Add required amount of chlorine solution to the water, a contact period
of 30 min to 1 hour is needed for effective disinfection.
