Calorie Intake Reflection
Last week I was tasked to track my calorie intake and was I surprised when I calculate
my calories. My total calorie intake for the week was 11,975. The healthiest meal option that was
on the table was for Friday Oct 18th. On that day I had 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast that was
156 calories. For lunch I had a chicken bowl from Waba Grill that was 650 calories. The last
thing I ate from that day was chicken noodle soup which was 348 calories. The total calories
intake for Friday Oct 18th was 1,154. The reason why I think it was the healthiest option is
because the calorie intake was low compared to the other meals for the week; Also the bowl and
the chicken noodle soup were healthy food options not because they are low in calories but
because they have chicken which has protein in it.
One thing that I learned from this project is that I need to watch what I eat because most
of the food that I ate last week is very unhealthy. I also learned that 3 out of those 7 days my
calorie intake was above 1,500. I also came to the realization that I need more veggies and fruits
in my diet because out of those 7 days I only had watermelon in one day and that's it. Another
thing I learned is that I need to cut down on the sweets because on Sunday Oct 13th I had a
chocolate shake and a chocolate ice cream. On Tuesday Oct 15th I ate nothing but unhealthy
food that day. For lunch I had a carnitas burrito that was 1165 calories alone and a coke that was
Leon 2
another 150 calories. For dinner I had 2 carne asada tacos which was 282 calories and on top of
that I had another coke which was another 150 calories.
Every time I go out to eat at In-N-Out I always get a milkshake so one goal I have set is
when I go out to eat at In-N-Out I will replace the vanilla milkshake (580 calories) with water (0
calories). The reason why I would replace it is because it is a healthier option and water is good
for the body. I will also be reducing my calorie intake by 580 calories. Another goal I have set is
to reduce the candy intake and start eating more fruit cups. The reason why is because fruit cups
contain vitamins and minerals that are good for the body. Candy does that contain that and is
actually unhealthy for the body. The third goal that I have set is to stop drinking soda and start
drinking juice more often. I drank 5 sodas which totaled to 792 calories combined. If I were to
cut it down to apple juice it would be 565 calories which is less than the soda. It would also be a
healthier drink than soda.
